After the original launch of BBAddons.com I recevied quite a few e-mails about there not being enough "different" or "custom" button sets to choose from. After thinking about it, I decided that I would open a new website, vBulletinGraphics.com. While the graphics are not free, they are rather cheap and are all custom made by a select few designers for vBulletinGraphics.
vBulletinGraphics.com, at this time, is only selling button sets, although in the future style sets will be up for sale as well. The button sets that are sold start at $5-$10 (while most will only be $5/per set).
With that being set, feel free to check out the new website:
http://www.vBulletinGraphics.com
More sets will be added each week - so something new will pop up each week.

There are some very nice buttons there! :D

Thanks, but I can not take all the credit, I owe portions to Xanthine & Xelation as well, they helped in the creation of some of the sets you see there on vBulletinGraphics.com (as well as ones to come in the future). They are both a great help and easy to deal with :).

I did not really open the website to make a lot of money, rather to provide users of vBulletin and other forums a place to obtain quality graphics at an affordable price. Although it is mainly directed torwards vBulletin, the graphics could be used for any forum, with a little renaming.
I am looking for some suggestions as to what else should be added to the website. Styles are already being taken into consideration, but what else should be added?
Please feel free to submit your suggestions, I would love to hear them. So fire up your brains and let me here those ideas ;)

I may be on the look for more developers to aid and get paid to work at vBulletinGraphics (payments will be made on monthly sales), but right now I am pretty well set. Once the site grows, I am sure more help will be looked for as a few people can only create so much in a given amount of time :).
Back to one of my above posts, does anyone have any suggestions as to maybe some else that should be added and placed up for sale? I know not too many people will be thrilled to see button sets, so ideas are welcome :).
Thanks,

"Sites using our buttons" would be nice, so people can see them "in action". :)

Except then it would be alot easier to just snag them. That is the problem with graphics.

Yes I realized that just after posting. A sized down screenshot is also good (90%).
SaintDog
04-20-2002, 07:29 AM
Agreed, that would be a nice addition, once I feel that enough purchases have been made, I will display a sized down version of the websites that I feel best incorporated them into their design - how is that?
Thanks for the idea FireFly, did not think about it :),

A "Testimonials" kina of thing can also be good.
BTW Jonathan, the buttons look real good, I don't think I will need a custom color. :)
sorry to say this: before, the site bbadons.com you had was amasing and very promissing. it was aimed to alot of people (VB, UBB, etc) and a great idea for graph fanatics. now is a business site to charge change money.
i wish you could bring back the old system. or at least turn your site into professional VB webdesign. not a 5$ charge set.
please do not take bad my words.
all the best.

nakkid, his old site BBAddons.com is still open. vBulletinGraphics.com is a different Website.
SaintDog
04-20-2002, 08:28 AM
@FireFly: Thanks, I am glad you like them, they seem to fit in really well with the green theme - I am glad it was brought back, I like it :).
@Nakkid: BBAddons.com will remain up, I love running the website and the repsonse from the site is almost always positive so I have no reason to ever shut it down. Also BBAddons.com is one of the largest free graphics providers for BBS's - I hope that I will be able to reach the point where it is the largest - someday - just a little more work - there are too many BBS's out there, new ones come out everyday (almost) :).
As for the testomonials, that is another good idea, I will add that to my list also.
What about other graphics (besides styles)....is there anything else that should be made, taken into consideration, or otherwise for vBulletinGraphics.com? (more button sets are very much on the way, so there is no need to worry there - each week ;)).

Saintdog - How about making category background images and having a tutorial along with it.
Are you still going to be providing free button sets on bbaddons.com??
and also... why not offer a banner making service... because everyone needs a banner for their site..
too bad it's paypal only :(
SaintDog
04-20-2002, 03:28 PM
@Mist: As said above, I have not intentions of closing down BBAddons.com or the free button set database. As for the turorial on category backgrounds, I take it you mean on how do add them such as editing template wise, or do you mean graphics wise (such as in photoshop)?
The banner service does not sound like a bad idea either, I will look over that and discuss it with the other designers as well and get their opinions.
@Nuno: Yes, right now, PayPal is the only option availible. Once everything evens out and all, other options will be added.
I want to thank everyone for their help :) - keep the ideas coming, even if it is a small idea, it could still make a difference :).

Dean C

both... i mean have a tutorial which shows users how to add an image as their category background (on bbadons.com)
and on vbulletingraphics.com
offer a service where you produce graphics for the bacground of categorys... and when you sell them you tell the user how to do it... say it may involve three tables as a category bacground.. u wud explain to the user how to insert it into their templates as well as producing the graphic for them...
SaintDog
04-20-2002, 07:54 PM
Tutorials: They will more than likley happen, everyone that is new to vBulletin frequently requests them so this would be a nice addition.
Categories: The insertion would fall under the tutorials, while selling them I think, imo, would be a bad idea. Something so small, people are not likely to purchase, especially when you can make your own rather easy.
I am thinking on creating a members only area which will allow those that have made purchases to download backups of their past purchases as well as another area which may contain extra graphics (i.e: cat. bg's, extra buttons for the sets they have purchased, ect). - Don't quote me on this as I am not positive this is going to happen, it would take someone else to do it as I am rather bad at coding (PHP/MySQL).
Anything else?
Thanks for all current suggestions up til' now :),

Members area wud be good idea...
Custom button sets would be an idea too... people request a button set...
Whole forum design is possbile... obviously you would have high charges for this... it would not cost you anything to offer this service...so occasionally you would make a bit of money out of it...
Flash intro to forums would be another idea... you would need a very good flash person for this...
Flash buttons perhaps (not sure if this is possible)
animated button sets (but not flash... just gifs)
sig pictures - everyone likes sig pictures... this would be a very good idea..
avatars ... offer avatar packs with certain themes... or make custom avatars which would be very well designed and have to be better than a normal avatar to charge for...
SaintDog
04-20-2002, 08:19 PM
Animated Button Sets: A few of the button sets have *some* animated icons within them - It would be possible to make them all animated but some people may find that anoying :).
All Flash Buttons: It is possible, while it would require a lot of template editing in order to implement them. If I can find a person willing to make a complete flash set as well as document the changes needed, it may be a possiblity ;).
Sig Pictures: Although almost everyone likes to have one, many forums do not allow them and I do not think anyone would purchase them, personally.
Custom Made Sets: A form will be up later on for a slightly higher fee and which, will not be sold on vBulletinGraphics.com.
Avatars: Almost every bulletin board I have seen entices them, while they are very easy to lift (steal) and it would be hard to track something down that is that small - as well as I don't think anyone would purchase them
Flash Intro's: This goes about the same with the button sets for flash, I would have to find someone willing to do it at a reasonable price. But as with the buttons, if it can be done, I will look into it also ;).
I appreciate all the ideas coming in, even if I do not use them, it does give me something to think about.

do u need any help with vbulletingraphics (not graphically wise) ???
SaintDog
04-23-2002, 04:14 AM
vBulletinGraphics.com basically revolves around some sort of graphics creation. One way you can help is spread the word about vBulletinGraphics, although when doing so, please do not IM everyone on your buddy list or flood forums with our URL. I am not saying that you would, but it happened with BBAddons.com and I had to e-mail many people requesting that users be removed from forums because they were giving my site a bad name because they were spamming or otherwise.
If someone asks you about button sets or something that we offer, you are free to direct them to the site - that is about the only help we need at this time, non graphics wise. More graphics designers may be looked for later on ;).
We may be holding a contest or 2 soon, so that is something look for :) - not sure on the prizes yet, they are TBA.

What would everyone think about displaying the "Customer Of The Week"? I would take a small screenshot of the customers website as well as the URL, in a way, it would be free promotion for those that have made a purchase at vBulletinGraphics.com.
I know it would not benifit everyone here, but it would be a small incenative to make a purchase ;) (free advertisment).

i think the best way to get popular with the site is to contact jelsoft and try to convince them to place a link on their site. i have a feeling that they will do it, once the site have a large selection (a % of the sales will go to them, just an idea).
you should make it in a way that other designers can post their work, sort of a shopping cart. and you charge a fee from the sale it was made from your site. i guarantee you that it will explode. at least me, i will publish there some high-tech skins i designed for VB and kept them for companies who want to invest in my graphic work.
in my new site, tw.com, i will have alot of tech info and also a small section related to php code and web design.

As for the "Customer Of The Week", it will probably very likely to happen. All websites could use a little extra promotion, especially free.

Customer of the week sounds like a very good idea. You should consider implementing a poll of some sort to vote on the sets customers most like. Or just showing how much of blank set has been bought. Showing which is most popular.

Thanks for the ideas, I am still looking for me :). Everything that has been suggested is being looked into and most of the things will probably happen here soon.
I will say one thing right now, those who are good with graphics and would like to get something for free, fire up photoshop because vBulletinGraphics.com is going to be holding its first contest here soon (1-2 weeks). The rules are being written up, we are finalizing the deal, then we will open the contest up.
I am not going to announce what the prizes(s) will be right now as that would ruin it, but it will be worth while, at least I feel it will ;).
One question I have before I go about posting it here only to be removed. This question is for FireFly if he is viewing this thread:
Would it be ok to announce the contest here at vBulletin.org (if you need to know what the prize is, feel free to PM me, I will let you in on it as long as you don't say anything to anyone else ;)).
Just checking, as I don't want the thread to be removed once I post it.
Be on the look out, it will be announced for sure on vBulletinGraphics.com, maybe on vBulletin.org also :).

All winning submissions from the designer will become property of vBulletinGraphics.com for us to place up for sale on the website (PSD files will be asked for). The prize(s) offered will be something of which I am sure everyone will like, it is nothing such as a baseball cap or anything ;) , it will be something most people I think will like.
The contest will last for 1 full month - that will be enough time ;)
Ok now, no more information until the launch of the contest, don't want to give too much away ;).

Nice site dude could use a Forum??? If this wasn't brought up in the other posts; is it possible to hold monthly challenges or a small tournament that lets users submit and show off there buttons to the publi and they get voted on at the end of the month..
SaintDog

|GMK|PlaTooN,
Honestly, that is not a bad idea, doing so would allow users to have some say in what was placed up for sale on vBulletinGraphics.com. The community may be looked in although there are the ups to have a community, then there are the downs.
The main downside would be the amount of PM's sent by users who want everything for free and think everything should be free (there are plenty of people like that out there). These users would bug or harass the other users until they can find someone to give them something for free. PM's would possiblely have to be disabled :)
It is a nice idea, if implemented, what forums would you like to see added? (Everyone is welcome to participate with this :)).
Thanks for the input,

vBulletinGraphics may be offering hosting soon in co-op with our graphics & styles that we will be offering. I have been thinking about this for the past few days and everything is basically planned out, but user feedback is needed.
What would you think about vBulletinGraphics offering hosting services? If you would like to see us offer hosting, would you be interested in purchasing hosting from us (as long as the pricing was done right)?
Please post your comments on this idea in this post or feel free to e-mail me at webmaster@vbulletingraphics.com with the subject "vBulletinGraphics Hosting".
