I am not sure if what I am thinking is beyond the customizabily of the vb templates.
I would like one of my forums to have a different look, so that it didn't look like it was part of a forum. Like the main forum of the forum under the main forum page could still look like a forum, but each thread to look like a normal webpage with content on it, but then under would be the replies along with the quick reply field. The page would have any of the forum tree stuff that looks like this:
forum name > forum > thread
It would just be a normal page that used the database. This would be very helpful, because I want to do a databasing idea, but I think this is going to be the easiest way to do it.
Then to get back to the forum you could click the back button, but for the most part, people wouldn't be coming from the main forum page, they would be coming from seperate links.
I have looked over phplinks, vb bookmark and vblinks and all of them are setup to only allow a little bit of information or just a URL. I was looking at some glossary hacks, like TWTcommish's but I need one that has another page after the normal link that would describe the "article" or feature. This would be like how people have found to use the forums for posting news for news sites, but instead of news it would be for articles.
It all needs to be searchable from title of the "article" and the post contents, which would be the article itself.
Is something like this possible? It would be totally awesome if somebody could work on this. Then not only could you have a news site, you could actually have an entire site powered by VB. From the forum, to the content and frontend of the site. I don't know how much time this idea would take, but I think if somebody was willing it would really take off and be quite popular.
If somebody knows of a hack that does this already, PLEASE inform me about it as I have spent a lot of time searching VB.org for anything that might be used for this and I haven't found any type of hack that could really be converted to this idea without a lot of work.
Again, if this is just a template hack, which I doubt, but if it was please let me know by posting in this thread, before moving it so I don't lose track of this thread.
Thanks for anybody that replies and if you are someone that would also like to see this hack, please reply and show the other hackers here how many people want it. This hack could litterally run a site if done correctly.
Please help.
