Nice looking. Its a smooth layout but I would suggest adding a little bit of color. But I do like it :bunny:

And if you really think that will stop someone from stealing your template I have news for you... if someone really wanted it he could easily remove the text by pasting from other uncovered parts.

They're both awesome schemes, I can't decide which one but they're both brilliant! great work, keep it up!

hmm.. looks nice, nakkid... but keep in mind.. that a page with alot of images isn't really comfortable to browse. i see it here on vb.org. the darkblue style uses much more images then the other two styles. thats why i use the green one :).

04-14-2002, 12:14 AM
If you we're to apply the Teal Misery color scheme to the Freaky Blue layout I think it would look really nice. - which upon actually reading all the posts I see was already suggested^_^.

the final layout....
i went into a different direction. special thanks to my friend serenity (yes a girl who kick ass in html). :)

DjSap
04-14-2002, 12:29 PM
very nice, though the left column seems to be very big...better off if it would be aroud 160pixels so that the forumbits would take up the most part of the page

TECK
04-14-2002, 12:36 PM
trust me, is not.. when you see the forumbits layout.. you will understand. it looks really nice.. but some parts are not finished.. it's not gonna look anymore like the ole VB we all know.. :)
it will be more like an interactive web station. once i finish the main forums page, i will install vbHome.

btw, did you noticed? i use graphics, instead of numbers (1, 2, 3 online users and pms), they are dynamically updated. firefly, as usual, pulled some tricks on that and helped me out. another trick i did was the avatar improvement. if you dont have the avatar selected, instead of a noavatar image, it will show the usergroup image, in my case ADMIN.

i really want to finish the forumbits so you all see a general vue...

also my site will be fully powered by VB. in one directory. did you noticed also that the forumhome index.php is called now forums.php?

DjSap
04-14-2002, 12:39 PM
yeah i do that also, change the index to forums.php, though a easier way to do that is by htaccess and make the visitor go to main.php or what you call it when he visits the site.

My site is already completely integrated with vBulletin, well the user base and template system. The rest is provided by a couple more tables and a cms.

thanks c-prompt. i reserve to all the forumbits surprise.. :)
today,.. or tomorrow.

PPN, really nice. is that the site you show me a screenshot of your admin CP?

djsap.. i know about .htaccess... :) i dont like it. i moded all. install.php, vbulletin.style, etc so when i will go online with i will simply do one install and is done, no custom templates etc.

i made a little system that it allow me to edit the .style file (easier then through templates) then with one click everything is updated. ;)

nakkid, bear in mind that if you update the -1 templateset, all your templates will be deleted when you upgrade. If you don't touch that set, never mind. :)

maketableheader("Add master set");
//makeinputcode("File Name (.style)","filename");

exit;
}

$DB_site->query("DELETE FROM template WHERE templatesetid=-1 AND title<>'options'");
$DB_site->query("DELETE FROM replacement WHERE replacementsetid=-1");

$stylebits=explode("|||",$styletext);

list($devnul,$styleversion)=each($stylebits);
list($devnul,$style[title])=each($stylebits);

list($devnul,$templateset[title])=each($stylebits);

// installing master set

// get number of replacements and templates
list($devnull,$numreplacements)=each($stylebits);
list($devnull,$numtemplates)=each($stylebits);

$counter=0;
while ($counter++<$numreplacements) {
list($devnull,$findword)=each($stylebits);
list($devnull,$replaceword)=each($stylebits);
if (trim($findword)!="") {
$DB_site->query("INSERT INTO replacement (replacementsetid,findword,replaceword) VALUES ($style[replacementsetid],'".addslashes($findword)."','".addslashes($replaceword)."')");

list($devnull,$title)=each($stylebits);
list($devnull,$template)=each($stylebits);
if (trim($title)!="") {
$DB_site->query("INSERT INTO template (templatesetid,title,template) VALUES ($style[templatesetid],'".addslashes($title)."','".addslashes($template)."')");
}
}

echo "<p>Master set added</p>";
}if a new upgrade comes, i simply do a compare with araxis.. between the original 225 template set (not the one i always update) and 226 for example. in this way i see exacly what changes were done in templates.

i think this is the most elegant solution for keeping updated your templates with the new code. ;)

Admin
04-15-2002, 11:20 AM
vbulletin.style can't really be compared since the tepmlates in it are not ordered...

TECK
04-15-2002, 11:28 PM
so you tell me that the templates in 224 and 225 are not in the same order?? wierd. i thought all they do the devs is to edit that file.. or add at the bottom the code..

Admin
04-16-2002, 09:53 AM
No, it's rebuilt for every release... the templated are edited in the Global Set in the Admin CP and then exported.

TECK

i'll be interested in this procedure. please give me more details.
