Hi, this is the point system hack rewriten for only admins to be able to give points, and its works with 2.2.5 luclky :)
the original owner gets all the credit, Jayson Stevens 2001
i just changed some stuff, Heh, thanx :)
This works with the other hack stuff now, i have rewritten some of the code, for better working :) now im off to rewrite some addons, lol, now this is offically my hack :)
Click here for the hack (http://www.bojangle.net/mpoints.zip)

If you just changed a few things shouldn't it be in the original thread rather then as a new hack?

Not really, if he updated the code to be compatible with a new release of vB then he can re-release it, as long as he gives credit to the original author, which he did, so it's all good.

Nice hack

The actuall reason i relased it, is bucuz it was written for 2.2.5 is someone searches for it, there gonna find the OLD version and not the new :)

a) The original points hack works with vb 203 through 225.
b) The instructions specifically stated how to give moderators the ability to give points ... default is admin only.

anyway ...

My thoughts exactly Reeve.

hmm but the sad thing is it doesn't work man, i got that addon to it to so then it automatically awards points, so if person X posts a thread he/she gets 3 points, and if Person Y posts a reply he/she gets 1 point.

but now my problem lies with the quick reply hack, its not awarding the points.. :(:(:(

i know i saw the fix around here somewhere, but this forum is too big, and if i searched it, i get a whole lof of "other" things that has nothing to do with tha point system thing :(

well if you know how to fix this problem, please help :)

but other than that, this hack is great, its bringing those "0" posters to post, and yeah, kinda like a reward system i hace going on the forums :)

This is exactly why this forum's going to be, IMO, moderated very, very soon. :)

@ reeve, the one i got required a modification for it to work with 2.2.3 up, when i first got vB and came here i wouldnt have know wat to have done, so im just trying to make it easier, but if you people dont like it, kill it, @b??? i dont get it,
@Exvaior, this is not like the orginal, i have changed enough to make a diffrence, so i would have to rewrite the other ones to work, but since of all the complaning that wat i did was wrong, i dont know whut im going to do, im confused >.<

I had mine installed where only admins could give points. All you have to do is change the link to /admin instead of /mod

Not really worthy of a new hack...

When you refer to this Step.

STEP 6: Edit TEMPLATE postbit

ADD Underneath "Posts: $post[posts]<br>"

=====================

<a href="admin/index.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=points&userid=$userinfo[userid]" target=_blank>Points:</a>

=====================

Where would I find that blurb ? What file are you referring to ?
Anyone ?

Trying to install my first hack and would greatly appricate any insight or help

okay I think I found the TEMPLATE postbit in my control panel ,correct ? yet when I do a "FIND" and input the string

"Posts: $post[posts]<br>"

It does not find it the closest one is :

"Posts: $post[posts]</smallfont>"

Maybe I am in the wrong place ?

Could some one help ?

I'm just getting blank page also. I updated id number from default 10 to 6 (that's my id number). Still getting blank page. Even went as far as editing admin, forum and mod moderator.php files and points.php file uploaded on all directory. Still blank page.

Anyone have any idea if there is a way to use the point system hack but keep the points they have so far from the store hack? Basically I am tired of the store hack and how long it takes to upgrade my board before it and lately I have been having weird problems so I was thinking of replacing it with this but I don't want members to lose their current points, is there a way to set it up so that it uses those points as a starting point or to transfer them to this one somehow?

Is there a 2.3.0 friendly version. The install notes only go up to 2.2.0.

since the points go into a user profile field, you should be able to keep the points....just adjust the field where points are manually added or removed to reflect where you had your points before.

Of course before I say this, I guess I should find out which store hack you are using...
