Small bit of java code to stop users right clicking on images within vbulletin pages and saving them to disk.
Add this to your header template
<!-- copyright -->
<script LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
function click() {
if (event.button == 2) {
alert('Images Are Copyright!.');
}
}
document.onmousedown=click
// -->
</script>
<!-- copyright -->

This is so stupid, anyone can still get your images even if the right click is disabled.

Yea, View -> Source and just find the image url or on XP or Mac just drag the images to your desktop.

ya but not everyone is smart enough to do that!

well run it in frames then they see the frame source. on viewing the source.
its far from bullet proof obviously, but luckily not everyone has your amazing I,T skills do they!
you could even add this!
<META HTTP-EQUIV="imagetoolbar" CONTENT="no">
turns off the image tool bar in explorer
just one step to go! stopping the drag and drop

there are java scripts out there that disable right click all together so they can't right click to view source. it disables right click anywhere on the site.

... with internet explorer you can click on View on the top bar and hit as source to view as source.

Or a simple print screen and paste if a person REALLY wants something. There is no way to stop it.

along with the fact that disabling right click is just annoying, because most people (or perhaps its just me?) like to randomly hit mouse buttons and select text when they are reading it. Perhaps I am just overly anxious ;)

You could do the silent right click, and then encrypt the html source code, then add one of those stupid things that make it so you can't see what is loading up (Like rip-off porno sites have) :p. But it still gets saved as cache. :-/

Another way to get around that is to hold down the left mouse button on the image, drag slightly until the O with the / in it shows, then right click.

Xelation, how many mods or hacks you wrote? or how many people you actually helped here at vB.org? not many, if none.
if someone would tell you that is stupid what you post or create, how would you feel?? think before you throw words like that in our community.
regards,
nakkid.

the easiest way actually is to use the image as a table background and then put a transparent image in the middle so when they right click they get that and not the image background which is the real image.

Hello,
yes there is. the answer is flash. . Flash is not the answer. Grab a swf tools prog and it gives you all the graphics,sounds and actionscript used in the movie. Nothing is safe. Latezz

How on earth do you expect to stop me from grabbing the contents of the screen by using flash? Does flash have some amazing feature that enables this? Don't think so..
And for the point of calling this mod stupid, I totally agree with Xel on this... What is the point of trying to stop me from saving something I have already downloaded to an additional place on my harddrive?
The only foolproof way of stopping ppl from using images and stuff from the web is to not put it there in the first place.
Disabling rightclick and poop like that just annoys the hell outta me. Sometimes because I want to look at the code (maybe a nice feature, or even a bug that makes my browser behave strangely), or other times because I liked the image or whatever...
Now, if this post makes you leave the board and not come back, then I feel sorry for you. because you are obviously way to touchy. This is not Sesame Street (or however it is spelled). Ppl here are actually able to think and have opinions...

Lol, I was not bashing you.
If it was bashing at all, it was bashing The One That Does Not Want Others To Express Their Views[TM].
Personally, if people does not like my hacks or mods or whatever, I don't really care. I made it primarily for myself.
But whining because someone says they don't like it, well...

there is software out there that will eliminate any theft of images or code on your site. It actually gray's out the view button in the browser and right clicks and anything else you can throw at it. It can even be set to dissable all navagation buttons in the browser which I found to be quite annoying when you got the "page not found" thing because you couldn't click the back button and try again.
But anyway.....there is security...it is out there.....and yes...it is quite expensive too.
Use all the little tricks that are easily obtainable and that will discourage most that attempt since many barely know how to browse let alone aquire content.. There are even scripts that will replace the image with one of your choosing when someone tries to steal it. Integrating it into vbulletin is the tricky part.

As long as everything is already downloaded to your harddrive, I still cannot see how any of this would stop me from 'stealing' the images...
Just a quick look through the cached files would do it... I could just delete the cache before loading the page, to limit the number of files I'd have to search...

It actually prevents that too along with not allowing the images to be stored in the temp dir
When you pay $1200 fro protection software.....it really does work
Its easy, with combinations of the no right lick, turning the page cache off, and using a dynamic script that can only call the image from your current script.... but it doesnt really matter if someone can just PrtScrn ;)

I guess it forces you to have Java enabled? Or even better, maybe it is some active-x component...
I'd like to see that run on my linux box :)

You can also put this in you body
<body oncontextmenu="return false" ondragstart="return false" onselectstart="return false" ....>
And you can use this script so that people dont open a page outside your frame settings, using the Menu -> View -> Source;
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
if (top.frames.length!=0)
top.location=self.document.location;
//-->
</script>
But like Sparkz said, this is stupid, everyone smart enough knows how to get the ++++s he/she needs. The people that don't know this (the so called newbie) should'nt be a thread to u anyway :)

Theres a handy photoshop tutorial somewhere that, when prnt screen is pressed, turns the image black...or did it just put a black image over it? dunno. I also don't know how it's possible, not even sure if it did work. They said it did.
Well, I'll look around for it, and if I find it I'll post it.

I guess I'm going to have to be the one that comes up with the only answer on this. It's simple. Just put at the top of your code and at the bottom and you are all set.
