Hi there. I am setting up an oekaki message board for my users, but I was wondering whether there was any seamless way of merging it with my present vBulletin system, at least in terms of the username/login system. An example of the present oekaki system can be seen here:

http://www.suteki.nu/oekaki/

However, it's wasteful having two sets of user login and profiles and crap like that. Is there any way I could easily merge the two systems, or does anyone plan an oekaki hack for vbulletin?

hmm.,.. ive seen this done before... you can copy the usernames and passwords and posts pretty much over too the other one by saving a backup of the mysql and then putting it where the new forum is instead of that mysql .... but there will be no-link between boards... so after u switch the mysql new users on one forum want be on the other... same with posts....

hope this helps

Very intersting to see this thread here just when I posted the same request yesterday on VBulletin-Germany ^_-.
Well, the big question is: is it possible to share the same MySQL tables?
So that a user who registers at my VB board also has full access on the Oekaki BBS. The permissions are set with the usergroups.
The Poteto Oekaki is using the table 'oekaki' for all the user data (ID, usrname, usrpass, usrflags, email, name, comment, url, aim, icq, urltitle).
Is it possible to use the fields from the 'user' table instead? It would be very helpful if someone knows a way how to modify the PotetoOekaki to merge it with VBulletin.

I guess the problem with this is that it would be more of a case of modifying Poteto Oekaki to use the data that vBulletin uses than a case of modifying vBulletin itself. However, I don't know if there is any documentation of how one can use the vB user data in other applications, mainly because of the encrypted passwords. Also, the user would have to login twice... unless of course you someone tie it all to the cookie system? I'm not sure whether that's practical though.

I have a few applications with username login systems that I would prefer to hang from my vBulletin users. I dunno where to start though.

What if the Oekaki BBS would use the same enviroment as VB? VBPortal for example is also using information from VB, while the script itself uses its own php files for page output.
Just an thought. I have no idea if this would work. But I also think it would need major changes in the Oekaki script rather than VB modifications to do that. I think what we need is an Oekaki add-on, not a hack *g*

I guess the best way would be to completely hack up the Poteto BBS and use parts of the code. The problem is really whether it is wise to add the Oekaki drawings data to the same database or whether you'd want to have a seperate one. Maybe it could work as a different form of "add attachment" for vbulletin so that you actually add an oekaki? Hmm...

This hack would be great and I'm sure useful to a lot of other people who use vbulletin and oekaki
