View Full Version : Quick New PM Box on forum homepage

]What is it?
It adds a table to your forum homepage where you can send a quick PM to anyone, just like the normal PM sending system, but just a short cut :), like the Quick Reply and Thread Box addon by FireFly and Neo. The only fields in the Quick PM Box are the recipient's name, subject, and the message itself. If you are looking to have the vB codes buttons and the smilies panel, then use the normal PM system :).

Notes
Only registered members, or anyone who has permission to use the PM system, will see the Quick PM Box, unregistered people will not see it.

]So it's like if you click on the title "Quick New PM" the popup window loads up which contains the newpmbox? Well, if you would do that, then you may as well go to the normal PM sending page :) Just like a link to it on the homepage isntead of going to the Inbox then New Message

]OK I just realised I used the wrong alt colour for the recipient row :) So I updated the file. For those who installed it, you just need to change the firstaltcolor in the row where it says "Recipient:" to secondaltcolor. i.e.
<td bgcolor="{ secondaltcolor }"><normalfont><b>Recipient:</b></normalfont></td><td bgcolor="{ firstaltcolor }">
to
<td bgcolor="{ secondaltcolor }"><normalfont><b>Recipient:</b></normalfont></td><td bgcolor="{ secondaltcolor }">

]hehe, well I like calling things "Quick bla bla" :) Anyway, I'm glad you guys like the hack, this is really my first REAL hack which involves in some more changing of the codes instead of my last two ones which involved in adding 2 lines :)

]Never tried, but should do..if the codes are around the same...backup the files that you need to modify and try if it works, if it does, can you post here and say it works so I know the version compatibilities :) Thanks

what about making it so insted of having a field to type in the recevers name, but a dropdown list of all the users on the senders buddy list? :D

]What version are you running at? Have you actually logged in to your forums and that you have permission to use PM/enabled PM for yourself? ;)

Though sometimes I wish I didnt have any PM permissions...

Bloody newbies...

Ah...er...Um...

Im running 2.2.5, I am always logged in, and of course I have PM permission enabled...Else I wouldnt have had to delete my PM box every other day for the last month...

]Well I havent tested it in 2.2.5 because I'm still on 2.2.4 (cant be bother to upgrade with all the hacks I installed :)), and 2.2.5 do have quitea lot of code change...so... anyone else here installed it on 2.2.5 and got it working?

I noticed that...

I have had to forfeit some hacks for the sake of vb 2.2.5...

I shall be glad when vB 3 comes out - Most of these hacks will be installed...I hope ;)

hey all

i got 2.2.5

i will try it out on my test server after a fresh install and see what i can do, it maybe a few days before i can try it as i am working on the real forum right now :)

I installed it, but the problem is this.

It came up white next to the box and it's weird....

Anyhow, the board that I was using it on is www.thehalliwellsisters.net/forums - it will be opened soon, and then you can have a look at it if you feel the need too.

how to make same in PM folder under PM list??? I think it`s more usefull plase for that box, then forumhome... :bandit:
