My PM counting system is broken. Please help!

OK, I went in and made it so that the only view for seeing your PMs was "from the beginning" this way everybody would always see all their PMs they had. I took off message tracking because it was saving PMs and taking of space of the total PMs the users are allowed to have. On the PM bar on the front page though it said I had more PMs than I was seeing, even though the drop down bar in the PM system was on "from the beginning" So I clicked on the GO button next to it and it showed all the PMs that I wasn't seeing before. So I need help so that my users don't have to click on the go button to see all of their PMs it will automatically default to show ALL PMs no matter how old they are. This is sorta a request, but sorta a fix because I already kinda hacked it myself and took away all the other options. Now I don't know, but I think it might be saying "from the beginning" in the drop down menu, but the actual coding behind the scenes isn't saying to show all the PMs from the beginning.

Can somebody please help me resolve this problem?
