View Full Version : is 2.2.3 worth it?
is it worth it to upgrade 2.2.2 to 2.2.3? i'd rather not reinstall all my hacks, so i thought i'd wait until 3.0 comes out to upgrade, since it is expected in (at most?) about a month

Well there are no new features. However it does plug a security hole. That's enough to make it worthwhile to me.
well...i've added a field to "thread" for a hack - how will this be affected by the upgrade script?

I have no idea. I'm not at all familiar with that hack.

I'm not one of the vBulletin 'Creators' and I haven't seen any post in this forum yet. Frankly I have no idea what you've done because I don't know what you mean when you say:
'i've added a field to "thread" for a hack'.
Perhaps it's just me but that doesn't make any sense.
By the way it's purposely 'not very detailed' so as to not give out information that will put all of our forums at risk.

The upgrade doesn't do any database modifications so the answer would be, no effect.

Ahhh!
well if it is more important to you to keep your hacks than to have a backdoor closed, do not upgrade. personally when i hear the word 'security fix', i dont care if i have the hole entire database of vb.org hacks installed... i upgrade asap.

whoa...okay...okay...
i agree then...upgrading ;)

Same here,no matter how many hacks I have,if there's a potential risk,I always upgrade asap.

But doesn't someone usually make a "hack" saying what only needs to be changed.
Such as PPN did for 2.21-2.2.2 ;)
*awaits that hack..

*awaits that hack.. i already compared the codes. i came to the conclusion that is better to upgrade the classic way if you are not comfortable 100% with PHP. if you are stubborn like me, get araxis merge and do it yourself. it's alot better then a text file from where you copy and paste.
