I think it would be neat/helpful if, when viewing the hack names (or in the detailed description~doesn't really matter, i suppose) there is a link to add the hack to your queue, which is a little area in the admin cp (or wherever) that keeps the name of the hacks you want to install :) Then you can just delete them from your little queue area after you have installed the hack.

A hacking queue? Good idea... I know I could've used this myself a couple of times before. :)
Maybe. :)

I made a folder in my Favorites (in IE) for this... it's long. ;)

Yes this is what I have, I was just thinking of something a bit more useful than that... :pleased:

I absolutely agree.
I have a bookmark folder for the hacks in IE too...
Very very long and I would need even a priority level status to install sequence. What about this, also ?
Even, I found another trick which would be useful: when reading an hack thread, I often need to change the default value of posts-per-page to keep all at once the full control of replies, modifications, and so on.
So I manually add the url the '&perpage=500' to querystring.
This should be useful even to save the full thread offline for a later reference without changing it as with the 'printable version', to search the entire thread for attachments (find 'downloaded' on all togheter posts), etc.
So, if could be possible to change the maximum post number only for Hack forums to such an high value, everything could be easier.
What do you think about ?
Thanks

We won't increase the perpage value for all users, that's not fair. :)
I personally use 40, but I know most people use 20 and in huge threads viewing 200 posts per page will probably just time out.
About the installation queue and priority - that's also a good idea, I will try to get this feature done by next week if I find some time. :D

Simply I think perpage-value could be selectable by area, and have an higher top limit than 50. Everyone could choose it as he prefers..
Hwr, I already booked ( :supwink: ) your precious time in about other 3-4 my enhancement request elsewhere, don't you ? (template.php, search by permission, and so on... ) :stoned: :stoned: I think I'm one of the most breakers for your hacks !
Thanks

Mark - I'll put that in as well, except for the yes/no installed field. Once you install the hack it will be auto removed from the queue list.
(Oh, and you are gonna have to wait a bit with this because my puter is going thru some hard times and I'll need to format it very soon... :o)

I was thinking a yes/no field would be better than auto-remove... Let's say that a new version of vB comes out (v3 perhaps), and you need to re-install all your hacks again. You could have a Reset button to set them all to no. That way you never loose your list of hacks and have to search for them all again.
Thoughts?

Surely when you have installed it, it would be moved over to the 'installed' list that we have at the moment?

That's what I was thinking, James. Although Mark also has a point in what he's saying.
I'll think about it when I get back. :)
