View Full Version : Licensed In Profile?

Is there any way that we can have something in members profiles that will say whether or not they are licensed? The reason I ask, is that we can't see if they are or not, and if a mod or admin hasn't said the "You aren't licensed thing..."
We might help them not knowing whether or not they are licensed...

Is this possible?

Thanks

Then there is the problem with pirates spamming license members....

Is it possible to display the license only to other licensed members?

Sounds good. The same idea "the mark as contributor hack" has but were only the contributors can see the license status and so on.

I believe i saw this discusion before on these forums and the main idea againts it was the privicy of the the ppl. and not wanting to be paged... by ppl wanting the hacks and so on.

Yes I agree, this would be a good idea... even though I have a license... What if I didn't and I got a hack from a friend or something... and he didn't know what to do to fix your problem and I could just come on the board and get the help without you knowing I didn't even have a license.... just a hypothetical situation.

exactly, right now the moderators have to make sure they spot a non licenced member alone. I am sure ppl here would like to help by simply asking ppl who arent marked as licensed to go to the member section at vb.com and add their forum name. I also believe it will reenforce the vb community. If this site is to be used by licensed users only this seems like a logical step in the direction vb.org has decided to go in. (only allow licenced users to get hacks and support)

As much as we'd love to have everyone asking everyone to enter their username etc., this issue has been discussed nomerous times before and the answer was and will always be no - sorry. It's a matter of privacy, that's all. :)

You can just do what I do. I won't answer questions in the open forums unless it's somebody I know is a registered owner.

Something i just thought of, and this still may be a bad idea.. but what about allowing only licensed users to see if another user is licensed? or is that still the issue with the privacee thing?

Simple solution, make registred users post the url to their sites in their profile :)

Even if it is just a test site, it is something :D

but anyways, i am sure that vb.org knows what they are doing :D

(now how do i get this brown stuff off my nose.....:D.)

Umm - we still have the privacy issue here...
You just moved it from one template to another...

When siginup, we are already require to enter the URL to our website, its just an option whether or not to let others see it. This really doesn't help as people often just put "junk" in there anyway, like google.com or nositeyet.com etc...

I would like to have my users enter their first and last names plus their mailing address for contact reasons. Are you considering this a matter of privacy also? *confused* No user has to join the site if they do not wish to share that information and/or submitting the information could be optional.

How woud I go about adding this? I'm running vbulletin with vbportal. Works great... lov'n it!
