Option 1: phpmyadmin
Option 2: Backup your DB through your admin CP and take a look at the file size

This is not correct, the dump will be much bigger than what you see in phpMyAdmin as there is much more text (INSERT INTO etc.) in the dump ;)
phpMyAdmin says 35 megs for my database.

100mb here thru a vb backup.
Only 3.85mb :)
I am just wondering, but if you all were to backup your database, it would take a very long time! Especially those who have over 100mb, especially with a 56k connection; :ermm:

Mines about 29MB thru a CP backup... But we restarted about the middle of summer due to a server crash...
How the heck do you guys have a 1GB+ database? how big is your forum!??
Forums which have over a 1GB database normally have millions of posts and haven't reindexed their search index for a while, the search index is the biggest part of the database along with the posts...

NTLDR

I prefer to have them all in the DB, otherwise I would have 496 full images and 496 thumbnails + all my other attachments floating around, way to confusing and messy IMO, much easier to restrict when they are in the DB too.
