double registration

Somehow every new registration gets enterd double in the database, using the next userid. I think the problem is with register.php.

What should I look for that inserts it twice? What is the insert statement?

I looked at the database. I made it mandatory for people to choose a flag and as a result, I have 2 entries for each new member. One with the flag and one without the flag. As a result, the news hack for last10.php is showing double posts for those duplicated memebers who posted. I deleted from the database all without flags and it is fine now. But how can I fix permanently?

Please help, as since I installed VB and imported from UBB less than a week ago my member base is increasing rapidly. (61 since the 21st).
