What do you think of this.

Theres another board out there which offers all of the hacks that are on this board for free. You don't have to be a registered user. You can just go and download the hacks. So people with pirated copies of vBulletin can get the stuff for nothing.

I'd be happy to give the URL of the board to one of the mods.. Just let me know what you think..

True it is sort of a bad thing imo. I know one of the boards who offers that.

But hey, if you run a board focused on additons to forums, then you'd wnat to have hacks on your forum...

I just sent FireFly a PM with the URL of the one that I found. If you know of any, send him a PM with the URL.

Stop the piracy!

Having a hack board in itself is not piracy. If the webmaster follows the rules regarding not distributing vbulletin files, and not promoting hacks for the free version, they are ok.

There is no way for an independant web developer to KNOW who is and isn't licensed. Thus, they can't be held responsible if pirates download the hacks.

We are not talking about hacking forums that let people submit their hacks, etc.
The problem is with license holders that download hacks from this forum and distribute it .

It's just wrong people distributing the hacks from here on other boards. I mean people pay good money to get access to the hacks on here. It sucks that they are available for free on other boards. All of the pirates who have illegal copies of vBulletin are now able to hack it up and enjoy it for free.

I have news for you. Any software that you've gotta pay for is going to be pirated - especially those that are grossly expensive like vBulletin. Besides, what these people are doing - that is, distributing hacks - isn't illegal. Furthermore, the fight against piracy will never be won - it's an extremely futile attempt. The more you fight like greedy know-it-all's, the more the Warez community will resent you and therefore, the more it will pirate the software.

The only thing you're doing by teasing people is angering them. If someone won't pay the $165, they won't pay the $165. It's lot of money. If you tease them, they will find other ways.

aznick, please go to this (http://www.vbulletin.com/members/vbulletin.org.php) page and enter your username, to show you are licensed. (you will need to use your customer number and password to access that page)
Thank you.

Maybe the war against Warez will never end (and I admit there is a good chance of that happening), but you must never give up.
Even if piracy of vBulleitn won't end tomorrow, it's our duty to reduce it the best we can.

Hi, I've read your post on vbulletin.org and I would like to know the address of these forums. I've been looking for
forum like these for a long time

I think this e-mail is pretty funny. Now i've got people sending me e-mails that obviously have pirated copies of vBulletin running somewhere asking me for the URL's to the hack boards. nice.

indeed $180 is a bargin. espically when you get access to vb.com/.org. I had found a bug with vb221 and as soon as I reported it, there was a fix within 24 hours.. That's how good the support is.

vbulletin is probably the best priced piece of software on the market

there are various pieces of php software ie. galleries, links etc which charge up to $800.00

a lot of companies just dont offer support - this is where vbulletin really excels

i pm'ed bira on christmas day cause i had a hack which was causing errors. She kindly went away and wrote an uninstaller program for me. Not many companies would do that

for example, i paid a couple of hundred dollars to have one of my sites listed in yahoo(dont get me started on yahoo!!).

They placed my site in the totally wrong section.

They have still not replyed to about 8 of my emails

if i had a problem with something regarding vbulletin, it would probably be resolved in a few hours

what you havr to remember is that warez sites and emulation sites are killing the livelihoods of the people they are ripping off

how would you feel if you spent years of your life developing a software program only for some idiot to rip you off because they though it was grossly overpriced?

It isnt right.

At the end of the day, programmers have to eat and live just like everyone else.

The only shame is that the internet is unbelievably unregulated and its virtually impossible to stop the warex sites popping up

aznick you anger me, anger me a lot! Your making warez sound like its acceptable.
Its also obvious you are a small child, who doesn't realize the impact that warez has on the encomony. Software companys would be making perhaps millions of dollars more if it weren't for people thinking warez is acceptable..
argg, now I am all angry..

Warez is not a good thing, nor is it acceptable. And anyone who thinks it is may well find themselves unable to access this forum :)

One thing I do find funny is the difference in prices quoted in this thread. A few people have mentioned $180, and one or two said $165. Well, vBulletin is in fact $160! :)

And if you are cheap like myself, its only 85 for a leasced licence :)
