Hello,
I just need your guidance on how to do things, I will manage myself.
How should we plan our upgrade ?
Should we upgrade to vb 4.x first and then install dbseo or vice-versa ?
Require following things setup on new vb 4.x:
Import of Zoints tags manager from vb 3.x to 4.x
Sitemaps
We are running our fourms on vb 3.6.x and require to upgrade to vb 4.x latest.
We have vbseo installed on 3.x and need to upgrade to dbseo.
Thanks.
The DBSEO PRO version has an vBSEO importer and you can directly import your rewrite tools.
Even if you use their lite version, you can easily customize the rules in the lite version to match what you have currently set in vBseo.

Thanks, but this does not answers my question:

I would suggest installing DBSEO first and then upgrade to vB4, because vBSEO is not supported by higher php versions and can cause issues during the upgrade process.
Sitemaps are straightforward, you can easily setup in admincp and submit to search engines.
Zoints tag manager does not have a vB4 version. I am not sure of any other alternatives.

DBSEO works only 3.8.x later or above and vb 4.0.2x or above..
In that case, upgrade to 3.8.x first, install DBSEO and then upgrade to 4.2.5
OR, directly upgrade to vB4 on PHP 5.x, and change PHP version at the end, when everything is correctly configured.

Sorry, you have a license already for it so its available to you, thats good.
I bought vb5 last month and was going to download vb4 but it is no longer available to be downloaded.

eww vb5, im sorry.
since you have a license, its for your site, find a nulled version of vb4 and just use that ;) youre site is licensed regardless

Not going to use a nulled version - got a refund from vBulletin and Xenforo got another sale.

The best solution would be to not use DBSEO since it is outdated and unsupported.
With the latest search engine algorithms there's really no need for SEO programs anyway.
In fact, search engines now penalize for some of the techniques that SEO programs used only a few years ago, like keyword stuffing.
And they now ignore meta tags entirely.

Thank You again for your quick reply Omnibus, appreciated.
Can you please guide us through this one important addon which we are stuck.
We have lots of tags made using Zoints Tags Manager (closed now) and we require those importantly to be exported to Vbulletin Tagging System.
Came across this addon: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=170314
Can you guide if this shall work for us ? as above thread is closed. and developers last activity is from 07 Jul 2016.
There was a great addon for 4.x but it seems to be removed now..
Kindly check and help if you can.

I really can't say as that script is nine years old and archived. It's not even possible to look at it and see if something similar could be written for vBulletin 4.
A good number of vBulletin 3 add-ons work with vBulletin 4 but the only way to know about this one is to test it on a copy of your database that has been upgraded to vBulletin 4.

I will first go ahead and make few copies of existing database, then try vbulletin 3.7.x (backing up only forums directory) test on new database.
If works or does not works, will check..
Else update to vb 4.x and try to import there.
Thanks Again for your quick reply, truly appreciated.

Hello @in Omnibus, Upgrade from 3.6.x to 3.7.7 went smooth, installed the addon to import all zoints tags, it went smooth.
Then upgraded to VB 4.2.5 went smooth as well.
Finally installed DBSEO (it was able to import all vbseo settings) and no problems here as well.
Now final touches and in search for required addons/mods.
Thanks.
