Ok, so I was sitting her looking around some of the previously written hacks, and it occured to me that a different revision of one would probably be one of the best yet!!!
I noticed there was a hack written to allow viewing of forums and such to members only (no guest viewing) designed for high load servers who needed to cut back.
Well, I think many people might not want to do that, for obvious reasons....but:
What about creating a hack which would allow browsing of forums by guests, but which would limit the number of guests enabled to browse at once?? This would also help a lot for our site, to give us a better idea of how many registered users are really around, since many do not log in to view the site.
i think it would be very cool to allow guest browsing, but only to say 20 or so members at once (number could be edited by Admin CP)...after that number was already browsing, all other members would be met with an error message (again, definable by Admins, maybe through Templates???) stating that the number of guest members browsing had reached it maximum, please either register as a member, or try again later.
Just a few thoughts of course....
