This actually would be a VERY COOL hack. I have taken out mod/index.php because I don't want my mods to have that much access. But there are other things I'd like them to have access to like the New Hack and stuff.

Has anyone gotten a hack like this to work, especially with 2.2.1?
I am in desperate and I mean DESPERATE need of having my mods be able to edit user profiles.
This can't be that hard of a hack to do for those that know what they're doing. (wish I did) They already have the built-in ability to view the profiles, I just need a "save" button at the bottom for this to work right.

Yes, and I also really need this hack :-/
Thanks

Is anyone working on this hack?
If so, I would be glad to be a tester.

This is mind-numbingly easy.
This was the FIRST hack I did, myself, without knowing PHP at all.
It's really suite simple.
Go to admin/user.php
Find the function for editing a user. And the doupdate part as well.
COPY
PASTE
Edit out the bits you DON'T want them having access to (like USERGROUP!!! AND EMAIL!!! Witht he power to change those, they can give themselves admin rights or hack into your account)
Make sure you remove the references to the deleted options in the queries in doupdate, or you'll get errors.
Then you need to edit the mod/index.php and the finduser function to add links to the new edit function.
It took me less than 2 hours to do this, without knowing the first thing about PHP or vB code.
It's easy, but boring.

I sorta understand you
But how would I go about making it so I can shoose which mods have acces to which admin powers!
like I don't want all my mods to be able to do this...
???

I am currently working on a hack that is based off this one and it's called Co-Admin Control Panel. This will enable you to give a person limited admin rights and the mod keeps his/her current rights. I feel the same when it comes to giving the mods too many rights. I am currently about 40% finished and will post it if anyone is interested.

A full blown system from scratch is the way to go imho, and I am working (slowly) towards something like that. :)
Hopefully something in the next month or so.

Hi Dark_Wizard,
Any updates on this? I installed the other one in 2.0.3, but edit user and unban are not working in 2.2.6 and I really need those functions back for my people!
:)

I have this advanced mod hack :p Its much better. Only i can't give it out as you are not allowed or something as thats why the original files were removed :(
Attachment shows how much the mod can edit and also below the text "mod pannel options" is what is displayed when you search or select a user.

Gee, thanks, MondayNightMike -- a screen shot was exactly what I was looking for.
:p
I don't want anyone's source files, I am just looking to see if anyone has been able to code the unban functionality.

I use a new approach to mods editing users....I uploaded a copy of the user.php from the admin dir and then edited out the things I didn't want the mods to be able to edit and changed the mod/index.php to remove the ban link and put in the edit link like the admin panel.
I also had the protect admin hack in there so no team members can edit another team member except me and me alone.
the best part of doing it the way I did was that it logs everything the mods do in the admin logs in the admin panel so you can see everyhting.
works perfect for me.

well, but it's a bit hard to modify when you want one mod to be able to edit more than others...
my hack can handle this also...
but the idea with the adminlog is nice :)

I understand what you mean but a modification of a hack or two designed for that can be added as well. I don't usually use a hack that has been written in the manner it was intended.....the joy of php is that it is so powerful and even though my knowledge is limited....I find it not too difficult to examine hacks and make changes to do completely different things
of course...not everything that one person uses is the right thing for others....it's all fun regardless.
