Should I upgrade? And how?

I am currently running 3.8.9 I am not having any troubles that I am aware of and I am not very developer savvy. Is there a reason to upgrade this forum to a more recent version?

I run around 3000-7000 members with around 10,000 posts per year. Anything gained by upgrading? Are there members here who can handle the upgrade for me as a paid service? I'm to nervous that I will screw things up if I handle it.

Personally I like 4.2 better but if it is working good for you why mess with it?

Most if not all of your addons will stop working with vb4, do your research.
I too would stay with 3.8 but, that is up to you.
Backup your database and your site files before you upgrade.
