We recently upgraded from vbulletin 4 to vbulletin 5 connect... the results are pretty bad. I need to revert, but it has now been a week (we really gave it a good try) and I would like to know....

1. How do I revert without losing new forum member registrations?
2. How do I revert without losing the new threads (a lot) that have been posted?

I have done enough research to see some people have managed to do this- just not sure exactly how.

One member said they uploaded the current database threads and members into another forum, then uploaded this into VB4. Has anyone had experience doing this?

Open to suggestions.

There's no easy way to downgrade from vBulletin 5 to 4, the database structure of vBulletin 5 is almost entirely different compared to vBulletin 4.

In order to do this, a bunch of SQL queries have to be written that move the data back to the proper vBulletin 4 tables.

I'm aware that it is not a simple downgrade. Unfortunately, it is necessary. My developer is off for the holiday weekend, but I'd like to have options to discuss when he returns.

As I said, I have found many threads with others that have managed to do this- they just don't include too much detail on the HOW and what worked.

Here was one: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=319256&highlight=downgrade
and another: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum/vbulletin-5-connect/vbulletin-5-upgrades/3951391-retern-to-vb4-after-upgrade-to-vb5

I assume most people paid for someone to do the job.

The user tables seem mostly the same structure wise. Most work will be to move threads/posts from the vBulletin 5 node and text tables to the vBulletin 4 thread and post table.
