Hello lovely readers of vbulletin.org,

I host a website at: www.omniscientgaming.com

At first glance, the website appears to work just fine. In the forum area there are no spam bots and I periodically go through the active user list and delete anything that manages to get through the human verification procedure.

There are two issues and I wonder if they're related:
Issue 1:
In google, if I search "site: www.omniscientgaming.com", a number of links to pharmaceutical companies appear. eg: www.omniscientgaming.com/product/XXXX/XXXX (where the XXXX are entries of some type of drug that I will not copy paste for security reasons)

I've done some preliminary research on this, and things seem to point towards redirects in my htaccess file, or some other redirect within the site.

Issue 2:
There also appears to be a number of posts into an area called "www.omniscientgaming.com/special/visitor-messages/" - But as far as I can tell, this area does not even exist in my website. Yet, the messages are showing in google searches.

I have a few questions:
1) Can anyone recommend the best way to go about removing these associations from my website?
2) Can anyone recommend a way of protecting myself from issues like this in the future? (Note, I'm running vbulletin 5.3.1 and generally keep up with upgrades)

Thanks in advance,

Kane@airrifle

I recently cleaned a website (not a forum) with the same issue. They uploaded some malicious scripts on the server and then added an entry in htaccess that redirects to the malicious scripts. I removed those files and reverted the htaccess and after a few days, Google search results were updated. I also advised the site owner to change passwords on the server.
