I just started accepting donations to my forum. At first, I did it straight through Paypals site with there create a donation button. Redid the code to work with the forum and created a link that showed up on every page in the top right corner. It was working perfectly and going straight into my Paypal account.
After donations slowed, I found the link to be a bit too intrusive so I installed this hack - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=236480
This worked and I displayed the progress bar but it is not accurate. With this hack, you need to manually confirm each payment. Here's some of the problems I'm having. The members aren't putting their id's in their payments. Also, it seems you can change your mind during the process but it still shows up as a donation. I, the owner of the Paypal account tried to make a donation but was denied because I was listed as the seller. But it still showed up in the donation bar with my name. Between looking at emails with no members id's and the emails, it is very hard to figure out which ones are real. Without approving them on the forum, the progress bar doesn't update even though the money is already in my account.
Another thing I don't like is with the hack, it lists me as a seller. I gives me the ability to print shipping labels etc. The first way, the just simply said Donation received. I don't want to be listed as a seller.
