Hello All,

I have been receiving emails from multiple users with the following error message:

The Website Cannot Display the Page
HTTP 500

The users are able to access the login page and once they enter their credentials they are transferred to this error page. It seems this error follows the account as they have tried multiple computers and still have the same error message. This has happened to roughly 30-40 accounts now.

The error message when using Google Chrome is reported as:

A System Error has occurred.
The software is experiencing a systems error.
You should attempt to repeat your last action. If this error occurs again, please
contact the site administrator.

I have GoDaddy as my Host and I am only showing 2 errors on my cPanel:

[Tue Jun 13 04:07:10.394606 2017] [autoindex:error] [pid 24837:tid 140131631548160] [client 66.249.73.4:37836] AH01276: Cannot serve directory /home/jamesmeyers1/public_html/: No matching DirectoryIndex (index.html.var,index.htm,index.html,index.xhtml,i ndex.wml,index.perl,index.pl,i ndex.plx,index.ppl,index.cgi,index.jsp,index.js,in dex.jp,index.php4,index.php3,i ndex.php,index.phtml,index.shtml,default.htm,defau lt.html,home.htm,index.php5,De fault.html,Default.htm,home.html,welcome.html) found, and server-generated directory index forbidden by Options directive

Lastly, the only way that I have found to correct the problem is to delete the users account and create a new one for them. However, that has been a temporary repair as I am now getting contacted by users who this is happening to again.

Any thoughts??

Thank you in advance,

Amanda

Place the site in debug mode and see if it gives you more detail.

http://vb5support.com/reference/debug_mode

A 500 error is too general to diagnose without more information.

500 is a general server error, not a software error.

Thank you for your reply. I will try this however, I am not a software developer nor do I edit code in a text editor. Unfortunately, my level of knowledge when it comes to running the backend of this forum is very basic and when it comes to looking at the code and re-writing it, this is where I have troubles.

@Amanda,

Were you able to turn on debug mode? Or do you need help?

Glenn

Hello again Glenn :) This is something I will of course need help on, again. I know I mentioned this problem to you in the past but it's still going on. When you are free would you mind sending me an email? Do you still have my email address?
Thanks!!
