Can someone describe the distinction between posts and comments? I understand posts in a forum context, but I haven't seen comments before.

I hope this diagram is self-explanatory.

Thank you, Glenn. I think I understand the diagram. I'm just trying to comprehend the circumstances....who uses which one....when? Can you point me to a website that exemplifies the intended use of posts (replies) and comments?

You can see people using the comments feature on the vbulletin.com forum here - https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum/vbulletin-sales-and-feedback/licensed-customer-feedback/4369308-discuss-the-vbulletin-5-3-1-release-here You can see someone made a post (post 2) after Wayne's post and then Wayne just commented in that post.

You usually make a comment to directly respond to a reply instead of posting another reply and quoting it. This minimizes having multiple replies with quoted posts from another reply. This makes conversation more organized and easier to follow.
