As it stands right now I can go to the control panel and change the forum access for a member so that a particular forum is not shown on the main page to that member. What I would like to do is use the same routine only allowing members to use this access mask function. That way they can pick and chose which forums that they would like be listed. Any forums that are private would not be listed on the page.

What would be cool is to have a button input next to each forum that is listed on the forumhome page and by clicking on these buttons it would allow them to turn a forum on or off. They should also be able to go to another page that will allow them to pick and chose.

I have the general idea on how to do this by setting the access masks but I am not sure how to write up the templates, etc. that would do the above.

Any ideas?

This would be sort of akin to Caucus' subscription method, where you only see conferences you subscribe to.

What's up Parker. Glad to see you over here! Hope you get you hack done. that would be really neat. I know UBB has that feature, but it just doesn't work very well.

Yeah, the UBB feature is nice. It just makes sense that with the access masks of vBulletin that you would be able to allow members to access this function themselves to set those forums, which are not set as private, to be turned on and off.

I just don't have a clue how to write the code. I would really like to see this hack done.

I'm taking a shot in the dark here (since I know nowt about PHP!), but would this be able to be coded in a similar way to the current 'ignore user' function (but, obviously, the other way round:) - or perhaps not, depending on how it was wanted to work).

I'd also like to add my name to the list of ppl wanting this hack :p
