Hi everyone.

We recently migrated our forum from SMF 1.1.8 to vB (Impex on 4.2.3 and then upgraded to 5.2.5).
Since we've returned online we've experienced serious problem with search engines crawl: we are literaly submerged of 404s from Google bots and almost the whole of these are returned by URLs with the old SMF path (sitename/topicname); being now the topic's paths updated to vB's synthax (sitename/forum/category/subforum/topicname), we suspect that these errors are caused by URLs linked in users' posts.
Now, our forum is more than a million and a half posts, so it's almost impossible to edit the old URLs manually; however we definitely need to rewrite that URLs, then we were asking if someone here found himself in the same situation and how has solved the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Dragonbyte seo might be able to help you, if it's available for vb5. I believe they offer custom rewrite rules for pro members, maybe they could do something similar for switching from smf?

Hi,
I see your reply only now, thanks for the suggestion, we've solved using a custom script.
