Absolute novice here so cut me some slack! :o
I want to add a poll to a site I'm working on. Basically I may want people to vote on stuff that could happen in the future
I've worked out how to add a poll in a thread, but I don't want anyone to be able to comment on it, just take part in the poll.
Is that possible?
The reason I ask is that the only two options i see when I try to set it up is to close the thread after I set it up which then basically stops the poll from being shown
OR
To leave the thread open and then in turn this allows people to comment.
Sorry if this is a stupid comment. Sorry if i'm missing something really obvious. I'm new to the software and just working my way round it so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a product here:
Voting On Polls In Closed Threads [v1.0] (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=323357)
It allows you to designate forums on your site in which voting is allowed in polls within closed threads. :)

Thanks Mark that seems exactly what I'm looking for.
I have the v5 software but chose to use v4 as I wanted a particular skin and it wasnt available with v5.
Will this mod work with v5 or will I need another for that version when I eventually move to it?
Thanks

Also......"oh god" you're thinking. I take it that it that setting it to be active in all forums is the simplest catch all?
Stupid question I know.

It won't work with vB5...the two versions (vB 4.x and vB 5.x) are very different.
Yes, if you want it to work in all forums on your site, then selecting "All" will work. :)

Arrgghh!! it now allows me to post on closed threads, not vote on the polls!
Is this something you can help me solve?

As an administrator or moderator, you can always reply to closed threads. As far as why the product doesn't seem to work for you, did you visit the product settings and enable it?

The administrator thing answers part of the issue.
Hopefully Ive enabled the product as suggested, as per the attached....

Okay, you have enabled the product...I really have no idea why it's not working for you...it works fine on my local dev site:

Do i have to reset the site in some way?
Maybe I should delete it and try again tomorrow.
Thank you so much for your help, I do apologise for asking all these questions. I clearly have a lot to learn about this software.

Hi again, does anyone else have any suggestions why this isnt working? I've deleted it and reinstalled and still the same issue.
Any help or advice you can give this complete novice would be appreciated.
Thanks
