DB won't backup fully

I am running 3.8.9 but when I try do back up my database in bulletin control panel it only goes so far and stops.

Everything is working OK at the moment but I want to be able to back up the database as I want to upgrade my forum software.

Any advice is most welcome.

Instead of doing a backup through a PHP script, try running a backup command directly through SSH.

I'm struggling here to work out how to do that. I have access via phpMyAdmin control panel but I'm still struggling with backing up that way!
