Hi,

not been on here for a few years, as I've pretty much given up running any forums, but one I frequent had a bit of a blow up recently over the admin moderating/deleting some posts, and he came up with the following excuse-
There is a bug in the forum software, if you select posts from this discussion but don't actually do anything, then move to another discussion and select posts there as well, any action you take on those posts, effects the posts in this one too!

This works even if you have another browser window/tab open, so when I got side tracked reading a PM and then bounced back to the many tabs I typically have going, I just got on with what I needed to do in that tab, in this instance it was moving a post to one of the new sections I've been working on in the Electronics forums.

Problem was it also moved these post's as well because I still had them selected as far as it was concerned, anyway I've moved them back to this thread and all is good again, sorry for any inconvenience.

Any truth in it?
Going by my past experience of vB, it's just an excuse, but thought I'd ask some current users.
The site in questions I reportedly running 4.2.3.

Thanks,
MC.

I believe what the admin posted is correct. Any action taken via the inline moderating feature affects all selected threads/posts. I wouldn't call this a bug, just a careless application of a feature of the software.

Admin is correct, the post selections are retained until deselected or actioned.

I believe this is an intentional feature of vBulletin.

I agree with Dave and if used correctly it makes things easier. I know this because I often have to remove 30 or 40 posts daily. Fortunately for me most are in the moderation que..

Thanks guys.

The admin in question has history for tampering with posts, and snooping on PMs, which is why I treat anything they say with extreme caution.

A mod like that is dangerous.. sounds like he needs to be de-modded. :)
