Hi, I have an url that is too long, and it came up on an error report I ran through Nibbler.

Running 5.2.2

It is from my search page. Not sure if it is a specific search, and that is why it is so long, but when I go to my search page it just has "search" after my url.

The suggestion is:
Remove or reduce the number of query parameters in URLs. Consider URL rewriting as an effective and transparent means of creating appropriate URLs.

www.agentlinkus.com/search?searchJSON=%7B%22last%22%3A%7B%22from%22%3A %22lastDay%22%7D%2C%22view%22%3A%22topic%22%2C%22s tarter_only%22%3A+1%2C%22sort%22%3A%7B%22lastconte nt%22%3A%22desc%22%7D%2C%22exclude_type%22%3A%5B%2 2vBForum_PrivateMessage%22%5D%7D

What should I do?

I think it is search results for new threads.

Does the URL work ?

If so, why is it a problem ?

Yes, it works. It is showing up as a correction needed on the Nibbler error website report. Do you know how I can change the name?

I dont understand your question, the name of what ?

If the url is working then you dont need to do anything.

Where did this come from:
http://www.agentlinkus.com/search?searchJSON=%7B%22last%22%3A%7B%22from%22%3A %22lastDay%22%7D%2C%22view%22%3A%22topic%22%2C%22s tarter_only%22%3A+1%2C%22sort%22%3A%7B%22lastconte nt%22%3A%22desc%22%7D%2C%22exclude_type%22%3A%5B%2 2vBForum_PrivateMessage%22%5D%7D

How? Who? A search type service, a robot "crawling" ???

I don't know what would produce a search url of that nature, especially with "Private Message" in the search parameters... was someone searching their private messages? Was a bot searching for private messages? Is this the only url reported to be "off" or were there more?

I uploaded a screen shot of the results for me, as when I am logged in, it takes me to some posts that require moderation.

I think the long urls are occurring with any preset search.

I say thins because when I click Forums, sub nav "new messages" it takes me to a similar url (crayz long like my original one), but not the same. Same holds true when I click advanced search. I am lead to believe all preset search types have these really long urls. These are the only three I have found. When I pull up the site builder, I see the url I have entered is "search"

I will attach their recommendations. I appreciate your help.

The technical length limit for a URL is a little over 1000 bytes. And that's only because of Microsoft's IE. It may have changed in more recent versions. Firefox and others handle urls over 4k in length.

The recommendation they are giving is pointless and should be ignored. Especially since it's a search URL that really shouldn't be picked up by a search engine anyway.

Every "site checking" site has quirks that can be ignored. This is one of those.

You dont need any help other than the advice to ignore those "errors", the urls are fine and you dont need to do anything.
