Hey guys. In vb4 there was a button for showing new posts which listed all the unread posts with a small snippet of what was said. The latest activity seems to try and achieve this but just not as well as vb4. Has anyone had any success trying to recreate this feature as it was one of the most heavily used areas of our site.

never did sort exactly what the problem was, but omitting "photo" from searches seem to help at least...for some reason that seem to keep the search string more true in my experience..

The best thing I've seen is a true chronological listing of the newest posts similar to the vb4 activity stream but not the unread only. I have a post here (http://www.webtechsurface.com/forum/web-management/forum-add-on-development/165-vb5-activity-stream#post165) explaining how to do it.

What I did for this was to create a custom search page that searches all forums, blogs, and articles. In the JSON search criteria I included "unread_only":1
This works, but requires that you enable database marking for read posts in the admincp. It does not work, therefore for users who are not logged in.

Can you please paste the search criteria you use?

The way *I THink* works is this:
search?searchJSON={"last_visit":1,"type":["vBForum_Link","vBForum_Photo","vBForum_Poll","vBForum_Text"],"channel":["2"],"sort":{"created":"desc"},"view":"","exclude_type":["vBForum_PrivateMessage"]}&btnSubmit=&humanverify[input]=&humanverify[hash]=&humanverify[input]=&humanverify[hash]=
It looks good in the activity stream - seems to be showing everything as the latest. If you want to use this yourself you'd need to urlencode it
