Hi,
we run AnimalForum.com (http://animalforum.com) using VB 4.2. and we asked our Host to upgrade to VB5 since we own that license.
Unfortunately the upgrade did not go so smooth and we had a number of problems including:
Theme broke (which was expected)
Database entries were incompatible with vbulletin5.
Getting 503 errors in the backend. Unable to log in.
Photo Albums and Icons disappeared and Avatars were only visible on the post level.
And some more small stuff.
So we reverted the changes and were told it requires a vbulletin developer and coding to correct the issues.
Now I am wondering if I should just give up on this and stay with 4.2 for good, personally I am happy with our theme and the feel of the site but I am sure I could get there too with a bit editing in VB5 and adding our logo and icons but I feel that I might end up switching to VB5 anyhow in the future since VB4 has kind of reached its end and also I like the improved SEO features.
So yeah what do you think, is it worth trying again and what do you expect it would cost to have a developer help us with this? I am not a very technical person so it's not easy for me trying to figure this out and also we don't have much of a budget unfortunately, the site is basically just a hobby that doesn't even earn enough for the hosting charges.
Any tips and input will be much appreciated.
Thank you!
