Have a user on my site unable to upload images. Has deleted cookies. I confirmed I can upload just fine. He has deleted a large portion of his existing album just in case it was a size issue but he can't even upload a 950kb image.
Asking about the error he gets this is what he said. "I don't get an error message if I try to upload, I just get a red dot with an exclamation point in it. If I use the uploader it says I have exceeded my limit by so many mb. Initially the amount was 6.4mb, which is also the same amount I had on the entire web site. I went to settings and deleted most of my attachments which reduced my total on the site to just over a mb. Then tried again. The message I got at that point was my upload exceeded my limit by the same amount, just over 1 mb. I don't think it's a coincidence that the amount I am over is the same amount as my total usage. I have also tried uploading from photobucket with both browsers with no luck. I have also tried using two other computers, no luck there either."
Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Is he in both a primary and some secondary usergroups? How much space do you allow each of those usergroups for attachments? What version of vB are you using and what version of PHP is on the server? When did this problem start for the user (sicne obviously he used to be able to upload just fine)?

Lynne, We recently spoke about another issue. my site is killbillet.com we just reverted from vb5 to Version 4.2.3. PHP I believe is 5.3.29. The issue manifested after this. Mid March. He is a Car Club member which means he paid for extra space in his photo album so it is a secondary usergroup. I asked about space as well thinking that was an issue but he has deleted a significant number of photos to try and upload anything with no luck.

You helped. I think is might be that the car club got there picture size reduced. It says 1000000 bytes which is 1megabyte. Unfortunately I cannnot find where it says what we set it at...

Nevermind again. I thought that was for the photo album but that is just for attachments. The Car club has a much larger allowed number of photos and no size limit. Not sure where to look.

This is your issue here:
Version 4.2.3. PHP I believe is 5.3.29
vB4.2.3 requires you to be using PHP5.4.

Lynne,
I was wrong. We are running PHP 5.6.16 MySQL Version 5.5.48-cll.
Any other potential spots for me to check? Thanks!

If you login to his account, can you upload? Could it be a browser issue - has he tried with a couple different browsers?

I did. No luck. Same issue. This is firefox and I was able to upload on the admin account with no issues. He has zero photos in his album currently.

There must be some usergroup permission he is running into then. You say that Car Club is a secondary usergroup. Does the Primary Usergroup have "Allow Users to have Member Groups" set to Yes? And what does the Primary Usergroup and the Secondary Usergroup have set for "Maximum Total File-Size of Album Photos (bytes)" ?

The primary user group does have Allow Users to have Member Groups set to yes. The secondary usergroup Maximum total file--Size of album photos was set at 0 which I assumed was unlimited but if not It has also been set at 2000000 bytes for a 2MB image as this user has 0 pictures currently.
Thanks

And did changing that value have any affect on allowing the user to upload more images?

No. It did not.

If you have ticket support, I would suggest putting in a ticket. I'm sure it's a permission issue, but it's impossible to pin-point it from what has been said so far.

Ok. Thanks Lynne! Where would I find out if I have ticket support?

If you have a vB4 Suite License, then you would have ticket access. If you have a vB5 Connect license, then you would have ticket support for one month after purchase. You can also purchase ticket support. You may want to post about this on vb.com and see if they have any other ideas.
