Hi all,
I't been an awful long time since I worked with either script, so I'm re-learning.
I have an owned licence for VB3.8, but that allowed me to download and run VB4.0, so firstly, is everything gonna be ok to continue with that?
Secondly, I'm using Wordpress for the front end and I want to wrap my forum in the WP header & footer. I'm using the tesseract theme for WP, which is responsive, so I don't know if/how that will affect VB if I put the header & footer over the forum.
But if it's possible, how do I do it?
I'm starting a community based site for Buddy Holly, it has long irked me that no decent website exists for him. So if you're a fan and you fancy helping out aswell, adding content & maintaining the site e.t.c. please logon :)

No. You definitely should not run any 4.0 version (no matter which one exactly). Those versions are old, bug-ridden, and have serious security issues which have been patched in newer versions.

Oh ok, my licence only allows me to download up to 4.0. I can't really justify another $150 to upgrade on a hobby, so I guess I'll look for something else.
Looks like a lot has happened to VB since I last used it!
Thanks for the reply :)

What's wrong with vb3.8.x (3.8.9 is a full release and 3.8.10 is in beta)?

Personally, from what you said, I would go with vB 3.8.9.

As far as adding the header & footer from your Wordpress theme, we would need to see the code to tell you whether or not its something that is doable. Kinda hard to speculate based on no link to the site or any code to work with. :D

Link is in the OP :p
To be honest tho, I'm thinking of ditching WP and just making my own header & footer and coding up a very simple backend, then adding my own css to make my own page layouts. That way, I can simply include them wherever I like.
It's the 1st time I've used WP to make a site and whilst it's great to have all the functionality, I can knock up a nice looking page in a few minutes if I hand code it, it takes me ages with all the widgets and customising css!
For me, it's kinda like swapping my bike for a Ferrari and trying to drive it wearing a straight jacket! :D

LOL vroom vroom. Sorry about my earlier post, I should not post when I need a nap. LOL
If you wanted the top & bottom menus to be in vBulletin it is possible to copy code from the Wordpress header file into your vBulletin header template but you have to make sure to copy all the css that pertains to the header/footer markup to your vBulletin additional.css template, when using vB4. For all purposes it should technically work if you put the code above & below the last tags. Will it stretch across the entire page? Only if you set vBulletin to do that. But then again as you mentioned this maybe more of a hassle than just doing it yourself.
