Align Test and photo on The Front Page

On The Front Page, the included sample CMS articles format with a thumbnail, then the text flowing around it. When I try this creating an article, I don't get that result, I only get a small generic thumbnail that says, "Article Preview." (see attachments)

I would appreciate it if someone could 'skool' me on what I'm doing wrong. :)
