View Full Version : Per forum specification of EXTRA user-selectable prefixes when making a new thread

apfeifer made a hack for this already, but I can't see it able to specify the user-selectable (pull-down list) prefixes on a per-forum basis, nor do I think I can make different prefixes for different forums, with it.
It's kind of like what you guys have here on THIS forum, on the Full Releases forum - the prefix of vBulletin version for the hack, I *need* that as an option on my Board.
Next to that, however, I would like to know if it is possible to have an option to make one set of prefixes for forum X, and then another (completely different) set of prefixes for forum Y.
In either case, some final clarification (and the hack itself) would be so awesome, and I would be infinitely grateful!

*bump*
come on you guys, you have this implemented here already, how hard is it to tell *how* you did that, or point to the thread that you know exists but I can't find?!
:(

I know that this is not the reply you are looking for but it will save you some time. I think vbhacks.com is going to be, in a way, like sitepoint.com. The owners here will release the code if they feel like they should, if the all the original things on sitepoint were released, what would make it differ from any other board (well other from the fact that it is one of the most popular forums on the net when it comes to the things they offer). There has to be some original coding on boards like this and sitepoint in order to make it original and stand out.
I am not saying they will never release any of it, wluke has released some of his coding, what he felt he should. I actually respect them for keeping most of the coding to themselves, it shows that not everything is free and these people have worked very hard to get their forums like they are in their current state (I only images what trouble it is when upgrading).
I am not trying to be hateful, but I think that is how it is going to be with some of the coding, if they feel they should release it, they will, if not, we can't do anything about it - the own the site :).
Hope this helps a little.....

Hardly. FireFly already told me he'd look at it and all when he had some time. He made the hack for me back when it was still all on vbulletin.com itself, but that hack didn't work properly. Apparently, he got it working _here_ AND there is a hack by apfeifer that is nearly the same, but lacks forum-specific prefixes (i.e. his prefixes show up on ALL forums' new thread pages).
I would understand that they'd be reluctant to share certain things, but I know that this is not one of them. FireFly started working on it a while ago, we just never got round to finishing it and making it work.
I appreciate you trying to help though, rest assured :)
