View Full Version : Colored Online Users Hack

Afterburner
11-04-2001, 10:00 PM
With this hack you have colored usernames of: - Administratoren (ID:6)
- Supermoderatoren (ID:5)
- Moderatoren (ID:7) und
- registred Members (ID:2)
in your Onlinelist on the mainpage.
You have to enable "Highlight Admin" in your CP, if not all is shown like the registrated members (blue)

Orginal settings of this hack:

Administrator: "red"
Supermoderator: "darkred"
Moderator: "green"
Member: "blue"

You can change the color in the Index.php(3) (there is a remark)

look in your CP to the place where you can edit the membergroups, if you go over the gals-link you can see the ID in the status bar of your browser

Since these groups won't show up in who's online, I'm not sure that you need to...
But since I am far from the expert, i'll let Afterburner or one of the more experienced folks confirm that

I have a question. I installed this hack and it works great but my problem is this:

I aslo installed the welcome text at the top of my board. I modified the fourmhome template. It says Welcome back, $username. The text is the correct color unitl I add you hack and then the username become the color of the group it is in. I only want the usernames to be the different colors in the users online at the bottom. Is this even possible. From what I can see with the hack installed it looks at the $username variable.

Thanks,
Netman

This hack works 99% but I have a little problem that stops it working the other 1%.

I've just upped the status of one of my members to moderator but his name has not turned green but stays blue regardless what I do.

I later Increased the status of another member to moderator and this one worked 100% no problems.

The only thing I can think of is the first members name is is in caps and 9 letters, were the second member is only 4 letters and in lower case............. but what throws out this theorie is that all other mods, super mods and us admins and all mixed caps and lower case and all works fine.

Its just this one members Im having problems with?

So is it........... strange or what?

:confused: confused!

does it work with other moderators correctly ?

The Realist
12-27-2001, 03:29 PM
Yes works fine with all other colured groups, its just moderator that I have the problem with.

The way Im increasing there status is by going into there info via admin panel and upgrading them from registered to moderator.

I have done this loads of times but I have found that now I have 2 moderators who were registered that I cannot get there colour to change at all.

Strange!

I changed the color code to this:

$username = "<font color=#00FFCC>$loggedin[username]</font>"; // Color for normal Member or "Highlight Admin" is turned of

For some reaon it shows up as blue......while one or two of the people on show up with that color....I don't get it...it should be working...but I don't get why it won't

Know that the 8 stands for the new user group that you want. You can change this to whatever usergroup the Newbie falls into.
You can add the same thing below your additions for any other additions, just change the usergroup #.

You would add this:
} else if (($loggedin['usergroupid'] == 8) and $highlightadmin) {
$username = "<font color=darkred>$loggedin[username]</font>"; // Color for Newbie

Right before this:
} else if (($mod["$userid"]) and $highlightadmin) {
$username = "<b><font color=green>$loggedin[username]</font></b>"; // Color for Mod

Then you would add this:
} else if (($loggedin['usergroupid'] == 8) and $highlightadmin) {
$username = "<font color=darkred>$loggedin[username]</font>"; // Color for Newbie

Right before this:
} else if (($mod["$userid"]) and $highlightadmin) {
$username = "<b><font color=green>$loggedin[username]</font></b>"; // Color for Mod

Yes,

After you change your member to a Moderator you must add them to a particular forum as a moderator for the color to change.

Example:

Find the user in the admin cp. Change them to Moderator.
Then go to Forums & Moderators->Modify->add a moderator.

Then it will bring up the correct color.

Hope this helps you.

If you go to online users you will be able to see what usergroup number the usergroup is as it will display in your status bar when you hover over the who's online per usergroup. Then just use that number.

Look in forumdisplay.php, the code in there is almost the same (if not exactly the same) as index.php's code (for online users' text decoration).

i don't know if this has been said yet, but the color you have for mods is only when that person is a local mod and not part of the user group mod. below is a change i made to it so both mods of specific forums and user group mods show the same color. this will also explain how to add different user groups if you look at the original code and compare it to mine.

if ($loggedin['usergroupid'] == 6 and $highlightadmin) {
$username = "<b><i><font color=red>$loggedin[username]</font></i></b>"; // Color for Admin
} else if (($loggedin['usergroupid'] == 5) and $highlightadmin) {
$username = "<b><font color=lightblue>$loggedin[username]</font></b>"; // Color for Supermod
} else if (($mod["$userid"]) and $highlightadmin) {
$username = "<b><font color=yellow>$loggedin[username]</font></b>"; // Color for Mod Local
} else if (($loggedin['usergroupid'] == 7) and $highlightadmin) {
$username = "<b><font color=purple>$loggedin[username]</font></b>"; // Color for Mod Group
} else {
$username = "<font color=lightgrey>$loggedin[username]</font>"; // Color for normal Member or "Highlight Admin" is turned of

Obviously not, considering you're in the 2.x hack forum :)

3.0.7 already has this facility and does not need a hack at all. Go into the admin panel then usergroups and choose a usergroup you want coloured.

Then where it says Username HTML Markup enter the following:

1st box: <span style="color: xxxxxxx;">
2nd box: </span>

The xxxxxxx are hex codes for what ever colour you want and thats all it is, no hack needed.

Try in Username HTML Markup boxes:

1st box: <span style="color: #FF0000;">
2nd box: </span>

Or

1st box: <font style="color: #FF0000;">
2nd box: </font>

#FF0000 is red can use any colour you want.

hmm... I did this by simply going into the usercp --> usergroups --> and adding a color in the Username HTML markup. Simple as that.

Does this hack do something that doing this wouldn't?

ETA: I see someone else did the same. However, I didn't use "span" code. I just used font code, italics, bold, etc...

Simple HTML

Sample in bold, italic using arial font (do it in Frontpage):

<font style="color: FF3399; font-weight:700; font-style:italic" face="Arial"> admin </font>

1st box: <font style="color: FF3399; font-weight:700; font-style:italic" face="Arial">

2nd box: </font>

you dont have to put all of that. Why not just put <font color="red"><b> and the closing tags in the second box (of course). It's that easy.
