Hey all,

I would like to use external dns for my two dedicated servers.

I just upgraded to new servers and I have been having issues with the current set up. Last time I used my own name servers but they were hosted in one of the servers. This time I am using the default name servers from the company I lease them from and I am having issues.

Can anyone recommend a good and cheap service to do this and help me out with some advice to get set up properly?

Thanks

Dave

You can use Cloudflare (free) their DNS service and just disable all the other protection/caching features. A big plus about Cloudflare is that if you update any of the records, it's updated almost instantly to the world.

Thanks, I will check that out.

How does that work? I use one of my domains and create subdomains, ns1 and ns2 and each get individual ip addresses?

You just change the nameservers at your domain registrar to Cloudflare and then you can setup all your records in Cloudflare. When you setup a domain in Cloudflare, they will explain step by step what to do.

I am actually trying this now but am not sure if things are correct. I have the dns in godaddy to pointed to 1and1 and have the dns set there as well. Everything looks ok in mxtools but soa and I do not know how to set ttl within cloudflare.

Am I missing anything?

hehe, I hear you bro..

Well glad it works for you. Any chance you can see if you are going through cloudflare?

Do I have to change anything within plesk for this to work properly? It looks like my mobile devices are not working now..

Hmm never mind about the mobile devices. Most are working now. Maybe just a cache issue.

Yes, I am going through Cloudflare according to console mode in Firefox when viewing your site. I haven't a mobile device with web browsing capability, so I won't be much help in this area.
