View Full Version : Forum local copy running under xampp 3.2.2

As far as I can tell a copy of the Forum (4.2.3 Cand1) is running mostly normally in xampp, under Windows 10 64bit; I would say 95-98%...
However there have been a small number of niggles where things haven't functioned totally as expected, testing plugins such as CometChat / VSaChat etc, that have gone ahead and worked perfectly on the Live Forum.
One obvious issue is with edit/create posting, a vBulletin internal process - a screenshot provides some of the issues I'm experiencing.
I am using to date copies of Forum files and database (1GB+), the latter set under mysql (makes no difference under mysqli), and utf8-general-ci.
What I can't work out is where the issue is - php, template, quality of backup (cPanel activated) or something I haven't considered.....I've used a couple of different backup copies and nothing seems to change - which appears to point to an issue with xampp?
Any one with any thoughts?
warmly
Geoff
Such problems are usually caused by plugins.
Does it work fine when you disable all plugins?

Does the version of php on xampp match the version on the live server? As for images you'd need to copy the contents of your attachment, images, etc folders to xampp, you can't just upload a clean copy of the vb files.

Hi Dave, disabling plugins makes no difference. Also 'reply to thread' doesn't do anything, not even bring up a box for input.
Does the console show any red errors on those faulty pages? (In Chrome, press F12 and then click on the console tab)
Also are there any PHP errors in the error logs of Apache/PHP?

Hi Squid; I looked at that, and no, it doesn't match. 5.6.14 in xampp and 5.6.16 on server; is that enough of a difference?

I'm using vb files downloaded from live site placed into htdocs folder. The smilies are the only images that aren't displaying properly. Would they, necessarily, account for the message box not loading correctly?

Running under php 5.6.16 on xampp has removed the jumble at the bottom, but it still doesn't change the issue with no message box/no reply/smilie images ....

Have you tried rebuilding the styles?

Have you tried rebuilding the styles?
Styles re-built to no avail - Everything is (or should be) identical to the Live Forum. I've installed xampp (again) and used a fresh database/Forum files.
Even with plugins switched off I don't get a message box, nor complete smilie images. Reply to post brings up nothing. No errors showing and debug is not advising of any issues.

And you're sure you put the smilies and other images in the correct location for the xampp install? If you copied the folder, or even compressed it first then copied it, everything should be fine if all the stuff is there. Have you check the chrome inspector to see if it shown anything in the console? To do that right click anywhere on the page and click inspect element in chrome. Do you see any errors or warning in the console tab?
