View Full Version : Upgrade Issues with PHP

Hi all

On trying to upgrade from VBulletin Publishing suite 4.2.2 to 4.2.3, my host server reports a database error when I try to upgrade.

The version of PHP on my host server has been upgraded to PHP 5.5 and 5.6 and still I get the database error on trying to enter the upgrade system! The hosting company looked at the files and said they are old PHP files that are incompatible and this is after I have uploaded the contents of the 4.2.3 upload folder!

Does anyone have an idea how to get around this issue, that's if there is a solution!

There is no more information, except a database error on entering the upgrade system. The PHP 5.3.29 reports that the PHP needs updating upon updating the system before PHP has been upgraded then after reports a database error that's all it gives no matter which higher version used PHP 5.5 or 5.6.

Even after setting the PHP version before upload does not work! Just get a database error everytime! I have since downgraded the files to 5.2.2 (PL4) all working fine.

Well we need more information in order to help you, we can't really do much without knowing what's exactly going on.

In admincp when you check the php info what version does it say

What is the full error printed on the upgrade screen? I am guessing it says either your PHP version doesn't meet the requirements OR you have something incorrect in your config.php file. And, I am guessing that the config.php file is where the problem lays. Did you create a new config.php file for the upgrade? Did you copy all the old information into is *exactly*? And did you use a plain text editor such as notepad++ to edit it?

vB 4.2.3 works just fine on php 5.5 & 5.6, so unless you give details of the error, there isnt really much anyone can tell you.

You hosting company doesnt have a clue what they are talking about if thats all they told you.
