View Full Version : Personal note in modifications

Hi! Many of members test a lot of modifications, they are so many that we forget some how
what issues we had and uninstalled the specific mod. if its ok we see the description "Mark as Uninstalled" so we remember that we have this installed.

How about if in every mod it has an option perhaps like? "Personal user note"
and there we can write our personal comments to remember what was the issue about the specific mod.

Thanks :)

I second the "Personal user note".

However I don't think we need the "Mark as Uninstalled". You can just use the "tag modification" feature instead.

For all my tagged modifications:
- I might install at a later time.
- The mod don't work as intended but I like the concept.

Tbh I don't think any changes will be made to vbulletin.org. Mainly because there's no one available to do so. I like the idea though.

Tag for me is to see it when I have spare time, or something I liked in that mod as you do so.
it will be very helpful, to ad this note. Example: When I test your mod an lets say version is v1.0 and failure to work for me...
I will write all this info so next time when I see my note and mod was updated to test it again.

Sorry for my English :D

EDIT: Hope this can be done Dave :)

Paul does most of the custom coding here. I can submit this to Jira and list it under vbulletin.org in jira - the worst he can say is "no" just like with anything else in life however if you get this thread riled up and I mean poppin' I'll gladly file it as a normal jira (so non vb.org members i.e. the rest of you can vote on it) and if more want it done then there's more a chance.

I like the idea, like a small notepad area to jot down notes about the mod whether it be a tip or something you encountered i.e. issue and/or resolution etc. Edit: Ohh and perhaps let developer view these notes but not sure about that aspect of it yet i.e. usefulness or what if sensitive info is posted by mistake... hmmm.

Paul has his opinion for thinks. if he seems that this can offer to members he will proceed to make it. if he don't like the idea, and 100 other member riled up this nothing will happen.

Any way, hope this goes well. :)

This is very true! IF it has no use or logic doesn't sit well with it, then you're right, he won't do it BUT then again that's the proper and logical way to go about it I suppose!

Yesterday I made an ebay account, I was surprised when i saw option like this we are talking about.
Sadly i see there is no attention, some answers from members or leaders.

Any way some images is not a bad idea.

It's upppp http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBO-116

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=2560135

So basically it would be a "Note" type of feature similar to ebay (gosh I use ebay enough to know lol!!!!). You visit a modification thread and in the first post it would have an option for only you to leave a "note" regarding the modification no matter what that might be i.e. "Failed install on 12/10/15 error was called to undefined function" or "We had to edit filename.php to make this mod work, if you need to re-install make sure you redo the changes" or similar.

Nothing too fancy, this should be short and sweet so members benefit from it.

No promises and if it doesn't happen no sours grapes please!

Okay so this was approved by Paul however please note that - It's not on the top of the list, in fact it's not even a priority and a few other projects are ahead of this requested feature at said time. So it was in fact approved just not implemented yet therefor we shouldn't see any sour grapes posting eh?

I'll hassle Paul if its not done here in the next month or two and/or buy him a month supply of Dr. Pepper to pull it off... although I don't think he's that easily bribed haha!

Thanks Paul!

Edit: If Paul does post in this thread, be sure to like his post to show thanks ;).

JFYI, I tagged this a while ago, asking if a 3.8 version would ever become available.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=323042

We could probably adapt it, since it seems to pretty much do whats being asked.

(Atm, its only available for vb4).
