I was unable to understand the Wikipedia article. Went over my head. Can anyone explain it to me?

A trackback pings (linkback) the source website when you insert a quote (with link) on another website.
So if you take a quote/information from www.abc.com, you can post a trackback on your website, which notifys www.abc.com that you used some of their info, and it provides a linkback to the original source.
