I would like to know how to hack it so that when you click the "Mark Forum Read", it takes you back to the main forum page instead of the forum you just read.

open forumdisplay.php
look for the following on line 35-37.
if ($url=="") {
$url="index.php?s=$session[sessionhash]";
}
replace with
$url="index.php?s=$session[sessionhash]";

Thank you... that seems to have worked and is a much better option. Why would you return to the same forum that you just got through reading? :)
Is it easy to change the text message to reflect this too? It still tells people that they are being returned to where they were. Is this in one of the .php files that I can easily vi and change?
TIA

Check the redirect templates. If I were using 2.2, I could tell you which one, but I am still using 2.0.3 and don't have the same ones.

Go to edit the templates in your CP and expand "Redirection Message Templates" and find "redirect_markreadforum" and change it in there, hope that works!
Whoops, should have refreshed this page before I posted the reply, oh well, at least I specified which one:p

Thanks for the tip. I was able to modify Ethank's database version of Mark Forum Read to have this behavior, with the information provided. :) Doesn't work perfectly with Subforums, but it does work well enough for me.
Thanks, PPN. It works perfectly! :D

But how can you give people the option themselves like we did in Vbb 2.03?

How can this be modified to direct you to the parent subforum?

Hello and welcome to last year...I don't think the original poster even remembers this thread. :)

Yeah, I know....I just wanted to bump all the threads that people have asked about this in, since I too have been wondering how to do this for quite some time. Observe this thread....
