New domain Images not showing up

I just recently decided to put a forum back up for a friend. We used a backup and now everything is fine except all the images aren't working.

The images are linking back to the old domain address even though I changed the main url in the settings.

If I use google chrome inspect element and change the urls the links work. So how do I make this a permanent fix?

You need to edit the style you are using and point all the image links in this style to new URL.

You can always go to

Styles & Templates -> Replacement Variable Manager -> Add new replacement variable for that style

Search for text: oldurl.com
Replace with text: newurl.com

That'll ensure all instances are replaced : )

Thank you so much. Everything is working so far now that I can find . Running more checks and will respond with more errors I find.

It is likely your images are linked with the old domain from within the style, search for the old domain in your your styles and remove it leaving only paths to images

images/blah/someimg.png
rather than
http://olddomain.com/images/blah/someimg.png

Also check in style manager, the images there may also be linked with the old domain do the same as above simply remove the old domain leaving only paths.
