I'm trying to figure out how to remove everything under "what's going on" except for the statistics. So I want to remove "currently active users" "total members ...." And "icon legend" any help would be appreciated.

Much of that you can disable from the AdminCP...would you like for me to give it a go?

Okay, everything except for the statistics section is now disabled from your "What's Going On?" block. Please confirm that it is now as you want it. :D
