What is the best way to SEO optimize vbulletin 4.2.2 forum software. The are many SEO plugins, but really, is there any that really works?

The best SEO option for vBulletin is DBSEO, hands down. And if you like DBSEO, you should buy the Pro version, it has so many features and options.

Yes I am. I had vBSEO awhile back, and I must say DBSEO is much, much better.

Best to seo your site yourself without using any plugin

You need good content, good incoming links from good sites and a good presence on social sites. A plug in will not do the trick.

I have to agree with you, we can do SEO for vBulletin without using any SEO plugins/addons, optimize on page SEO for your forum, post quality content on your forum will help your forum improve search rankings.
