View Full Version : Persistent spammer advice

Our site currently uses V 3.8.7.
We have an issue with persistent spam for "My WIFI router". Adding "WIFI" as a censored word fixes the problem but as we are a technology website this also affects innocent posters and as soon as we remove it of course, back comes the spam.
Is there a better way we can combat this please? (without putting new posts into moderation which is not acceptable to the admins).

Thank you for responding but this isn't going to help. Our registration is handled by Drupal 7 which we use for the main site.
What we need, if it exists, is the ability to have more control over censored words to include phrases. As per my my previous post, if we include "WIFI", then a whole stack of innocent members will see their posts blocked. If though it were possible to have the whole phrase of "My WIFI router" as a block, without this affecting posts containing the single word "wifi", then nothing else would be affected apart from the spam. :)
I haven't tried it myself, but there's this mod: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=232780 . It does put matching posts into moderation (from your comment above I'm not sure if that's acceptable), but it says it can be triggered by phrase.

Looks to be ideal - I'll check it out and thanks for the notice.
