View Full Version : Profile Enhancements - Innovative Default Profile Tab

This modification allows the administrator to specify the default profile tab, so in other words when you visit a members profile page the tab you specify shows. Its very similar in nature to the recently removed mod "[OzzModz] Default Profile Tab (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=302655)" and can be used as a replacement.

- Ability to enable/disable the modification.
- Ability to set default tab as any of the following:
-- Use Custom Tab Name
-- Visitor Messages
-- My Activity
-- About Me
-- Friends
-- Blog

More importantly is the latter i.e. if you've installed a mod that added a profile tab, you can enter in the name of the custom tab to show as the default - this way when a user visits a member profile on your site the custom tab and its contents are shown instead of visitor messaging (in newer versions of 4.x "My Activity" tab is shown i.e. Activity Stream content.

Very basic mod, screenshots provided.
To access settings: AdminCP > Settings > Options > Innovative Default Profile Tab

Credits: I stumbled across a post by a member on vbulletin.com which linked to a post by BOP5 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=2338670&postcount=20) although I remember seeing Andreas (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=47102) also post similar code if I'm not mistaken SO with that being said credit is to either of them!

Tips: This mod only allows you to choose which tab should show by default - If you like the custom tab shown in the screenshot, you can code one too and include your own content by following info in this article by Cellarius to make a profile tab (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=265971&highlight=cellarius).

Looks like a good mod. I'd use it but I already have enough tabs on user profiles. Adding more may not be smart at this point in time. ^^ +1 though.

This mod does not add a tab, it allows you to choose which tab shows when you visit a members profile. The link in the mod description regarding Cellarius, is a link to his article on how to add a tab I bet the confusion came from that wording, rewording now.

I installed this, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. It just went straight to the About Me tab as normal.

That's because you need to pick what tab you want it to go to

I did.

Allow me to rephrase:

I installed this, by which I mean I followed all the instructions and then configured it in the settings, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. It just went straight to the About Me tab as normal.

Trust me. I'm not an idiot, and the settings for this mod are extremely simple. It's set to show the My Activity tab. If you don't believe me, that's fine. But the mod is not working on my board.

Just tested this and changed my default profile to friends... works 100% using vb4.2.2

I didn't ask for help; I just reported the mod didn't work and removed it. I hoped the brief report may be of use to the coder, but if it isn't, it isn't. You didn't give help, you just pretty much said "prove it". And I didn't get angry, I got mildly sarcastic, which is a different thing entirely.

For some users this mod works as it should.

For you it doesn't. There can be more than one reason why it is so. But, claiming that this mod doesn't work at all wouldn't help anyone. Not community, not author, not you.

Lucky nobody engaged in such hyperbole, then!

(Apologies to the original coder for how his thread seems to have been hijacked into some kind of weirdly hostile Monty Python sketch; that certainly wasn't my intention - I'll let you get on with things and leave the thread alone!)

This is too funny, this guy gets upset over a mod that doesn't work for him then gives credit to the original developer but tried to download this copy and install it...

Am I missing something?
