Does turning off vB negatively affect Google rankings? If I turn it off for an extended period of time like a week or more?

If Google bots and spiders will not be able to crawl the site's content, the Google will think that the site is down and will negatively affect rankings. Will Google bots and spiders still be able to crawl the forum's content if the vB is turned off?

Yes, if your site is off for an extended period you will lose ranking.

Issues with the site or spam? ...If I were you, I'd leave the site on and just disable new registrations ;). This way forum stays active, bots can crawl all over it too and no loss in ranking :D.

*Still keep it updated if a security patch comes out otherwise if vulnerable the bots will be crawling a defaced site possibly.
