You mean something like vB5 does with comments?

There is "Threaded Mode" and "Hybrid Mode", which users can switch to using the "Display" dropdown menu on the showthread page. It's not exactly what you describe but in a way it serves the same purpose.

You are right.
I really like comment on each reply, it helps users easy to follow the dicussions

are there Mods like that for vB 4xx?

Thanks but Last Update: 11 Jun 2010

I'm not sure it can run good for vb4.2.x

I'm looking forward a good Mod like Vb5 having. :)

It's possible on vb4x.

Well you never know till you try it. There is mods that were created 10 years ago, and they still work.

I installed it and it works but I must remove it because it lacked more features and functions for users.

I like professional one like vB5 having.

Thanks for your support.

One seldomly hears vB5 and professional in the same sentence ;)

However, on topic: In my opinion, comments on posts make it much harder to follow threads, actually. Imagine a 25 page thread. So, now someone comments on a post on page 20. How do you find that post? What will be shown on the main forum index as last post in that thread - the actual last post, or the last comment on a post? The read/unread system and how it works will not allow you to count comments on posts as unread, or, if you find a way around that: if you read said comment on page 20, it will automatically mark all new posts after page 20 as read. And I'm only just beginning. Comments on posts disturb every discover-new-content-functionality vB offers - as on display on vb.com with vB5.

Then it would be best to hire someone to write it for you by posting in the Requests for Paid Services (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=30) forum. Just make sure you read the sticky threads in the forum before you hire someone.

Yeah me personally I can't stand it either, this is a forum, not Facebook.

It's important to note that more people than you'd think DO like the comments system. Myself, I'd turn it off, but I've seen it used on quite a few sites with reasonable traffic and they seem to quite like it.

True, some people like it, and some don't. But the issue still remains, if the OP wants it for vB4, they will need to hire someone to write it like they want.
