When saving, after editing, a highly-formatted page with over 1,500 hyperlinks, intermittently loses all line breaks http://bit.ly/1a2QiUB collapsing the page into one long paragraph.
due to illness and age, reformatting more than one last time is no longer an option
can anyone help me? I'm not a software person
thanks in advance

My guess is you are using IE, as there's an issue with line breaks when using IE with CKE wysiwyg editor. Use a different browser, I'd recommend trying either Firefox or Chrome as an alternative.

Thanks for responding squidsk
I have a Mac with the latest version of Safari
are there any updates available for the CKE wysiwyg editor?

I would suggest never editing with WYSIWYG. Always use the standard editor with bbcodes

when I click on Edit Post, what determines which editor is being used?

Settings > General Settings > Message Editor Interface = Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls. You can also set it to standard mode with the uppermost button on the left side. It should be blue for standard.

thank you nerbert
under Settings in the Admin Panel
the choices are:
Options
Search Type
Navigation Manager
Human Verification Manager
Social Bookmarking Manager
Run Upgrade Script
I clicked on Options and then selected Message Interface Posting options
it showed:
Full Editor: Enable Standard & WSIWYG
Quick Reply: " " " "
Quick Edit: " " " "
with options to Disable Controls, or Enable Standard Controls
your suggestion is to Enable Standard Controls, correct?

No, no no! Your USER Settings up in the top right of the forum page!

I posted on the CKE WSIWYG forum to see if anyone there has experienced anything similar.
If at all possible I would like to stay with CKE WSIWYG rather than reverting back to the inserted commands.

Also, to change all user's Editor, there is a MySQL Query you can run. I forget the exact Query, but I'm sure its somewhere here on the forum, that's where I found it anyway.

If you like the WYSIWYG you can always use that for normal posts but always switch to standard when you edit that one post with the links. I'm not sure this is actually a problem with the CK Editor itself. It may be in vBulletin's code that converts the WYSIWYG html output to bb code for storing in the database. I've worked with both WYSIWYG code and the vBulletin code for translating it and there are things I'm not quite happy with when it comes to line breaks. Personally I much prefer the standard editor but it's fun and challenging to write WYSIWYG code for the other users

thanks for your continued input and suggestions nerbert
I've split the contents of the post into two following posts and am beginning the reformatting.
after they are reformatted, and more fully updated for the 114th Congress, and as my health permits,
I'll explore combining them into one post, and do the remaining updates, while using the standard editor
thanks again for your help; I greatly appreciate it

just as a follow-up, I have it reformatted and broken into two pages http://bit.ly/1a2QiUB
rather than push my luck I'm going to leave it that way for now
thanks again for the help and suggestions
